Liverpool starlet joins Serie A club, heaps praise on the Reds over his career at Anfield

Reports in Italy say Liverpool striker Bobby Adekanye has landed in Rome to complete his transfer to Lazio, and was expected to watch Lazio’s 2-0 victory over Atalanta Coppa Italia Final at the Stadio Olimpico.

The 20-year-old makes the move as a free agent, as his contract with the Liverpool academy was allowed to expire.

As confirmed by his own Twitter account, Adekanye landed in Rome’s Fiumicino Airport Wednesday afternoon and was greeted by heavy rain.

Before moving to Liverpool in 2015, Adekanye spent time in the Ajax and Barcelona youth academies.

“Four years ago, when I arrived to Liverpool, I was still a child. Now I leave as a man, and I take with me a new family which I’ll feel mine forever,” he wrote in an open letter on social media.

“It’s not easy to find the right words for thanking everything Liverpool FC has given to me these years.

“To every coach I had in Academy and Melwood, to every teammate I shared good moments with, to every employee who where always by my side. Thanks a lot.

“I don’t know neither how nor when, but I’m sure that our ways will meet again someday.

“Stand by with me on June 1st. I’ll be one more helping the team to win the Champions League final. #YNWA”

14 players named in Real Madrid’s summer clear-out as Zidane begins overhaul of team

There are reports in Spain Real Madrid are attempting to find new clubs for 14 players this summer.

A busy summer of transfer business is in the offing at Real Madrid, as Los Blancos prepare an overhaul that will see players brought in, and also a fair few shipped out – not just to make way for the new signings, but also to help finance them.

According to Marca, Gareth Bale, Keylor Navas and Dani Ceballos are the three highest-profile current players who Madrid are said to be hopeful of moving on this summer.

Additionally, Marcos Llorente and Sergio Reguilon – who for long spells was selected ahead of Marcelo at left-back this season – are also reported to be on the market, reports Football Espana.

Central defender Jesus Vallejo – who has found game-time limited this season and was sent-off at Real Sociedad on Sunday – will also be made available to other clubs.

The report also highlights a number of players returning from loan deals elsewhere who will once again be moved on either temporarily or permanently.

James Rodriguez, Mateo Kovacic, Theo Hernandez, Borja Mayoral, Oscar, Raul de Tomas and Martin Odegaard will also be moved on once more.

The report also suggests that whilst a number of players are not actively for sale, bids for them may be considered. Mariano Diaz, Brahim Diaz, Isco and Lucas Vazquez are included.

REVEALED: Behind-the-scene moves by Barcelona to sign Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid

Reports in Spain, France and England claim that the scandalous defeat Barcelona suffered at Anfield sparked the Nou Camp club’s hierachy into desperate moves to acquire Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann.

French publication, Le Parisien, had reported on Thursday last week that the forward would join Barcelona after confirming that Eric Abidal convinced the Los Rojiblancos striker to lower his salary to join the Blaugrana.

After the 4-0 in a Champions League semi-final fiasco at Anfield, the La Liga champions kicked-started the process of reinforcing their squad.

They have already signed Frenkie de Jong from Ajax, there are talks over Matthijs de Ligt, and Barcelona want Griezmann to bolster the attack.

The publication added that Abidal didn’t break contact with Griezmann’s people after the player didn’t join last summer, and that he wants to come to Barcelona in order to win more trophies. They think it’s possible Abidal already has reached an agreement with Griezmann.

Tuesday’s video of Antoine Griezmann saying goodbye to Atletico Madrid supporters might not have mentioned Barcelona but the Frenchman’s destination is now very clear.

Barcelona, the Daily Mail also discloses, set out two standout objectives after the Anfield debacle – win the race to sign Matthijs de Ligt from Ajax and complete the signing of Griezmann, forgetting all about his video snub to the club last season.

Griezmann’s capture gives them back a front three to match the trident that shot them to a treble in 2015. Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez will hope to form just as deadly an attack with Griezmann as with Neymar. And the signings will not stop there.

Well-informed Catalunya Radio say a four-man Barcelona delegation including general manager Pep Segura and director of football Eric Abidal met with Mino Raiola in Monte Carlo in April to thrash out a deal for De Ligt. And Barcelona are confident they will be able to announce the signing before the end of this week.

There was some reticence because Gerard Pique has had a superb season and De Ligt plays on the same side as the 32-year-old retired Spain international. But Barcelona believe the 19-year-old Ajax captain is the perfect long-term replacement for Pique and could also play alongside him.

Barca are attacking the problems that were laid bare at Anfield from two directions. De Ligt is a teenager and very much the future. Griezmann is already a World Cup winner.

‘Not all the arrivals with be teenagers. Sometimes you have to sign the players who are 27, 28,’ said president Josep Bartomeu in an interview with Sportsmail recently. Barcelona’s plan last summer was to do exactly that with 28-year-old Griezmann seemingly on his way to the Nou Camp.

Griezmann has been there and done it. He has won a league, not to mention a World Cup, he will no more need time to adjust than Ivan Rakitic did when he arrived from Sevilla in 2014.

David Luiz reveals Roman Abramovich’s feeling about Chelsea after meeting club owner last week over contract talks

Chelsea defender David Luiz says Roman Abramovich is still passionate about the Stamford Bridge club.

The Brazilian signed a two-year contact extension at the club last weekend, and prior to the signing, he met with the club owner over contract talks.

When Luiz sat down across the table from Roman Abramovich to discuss the future, he did not find a distant owner, someone remote and losing interest in Chelsea.

He found Abramovich was still burning with the same passion for the club as he was eight years ago when he first lured Luiz to Stamford Bridge and promised to turn his dreams into reality, reports the Daily Mail.

‘He has been away but his heart is here,’ said Luiz. ‘He loves this club. He is the one who built Chelsea. Everything at Chelsea changed because of him. The results speak for themselves. Fifteen trophies in 15 years. He came here to do something amazing and he did it.

‘I had the opportunity to talk with him last week, to decide my future. He loves the club and everything that is inside the club, not just the people. He wants to win everything. He is still in love with the club and wants to do more.

‘It is difficult for him, but his heart is with us, he tries to be involved every single day. He is still really passionate for the club. He is still thinking in the same way. He has the same hunger, thinking about winning. He doesn’t want to lose energy.’

Abramovich has been absent this season, the first since his UK visa was not renewed, but he is expected in Boston to see Chelsea take on New England Revolution in a game billed as ‘The Final Whistle on Hate’ at the Gillette Stadium, home of Super Bowl champions, the New England Patriots.
