In-demand Matthijs De Ligt has been spotted in Barcelona amid speculation he is set for a summer switch to the Nou Camp.

But all is not as it seems, with the defender simply joining his Ajax team-mates on a trip to the Spanish city to celebrate their Dutch league and cup double, reports the Daily Mirror.

The Amsterdam club have enjoyed a stunning season, with De Ligt captaining them to a domestic double as well as reaching the Champions League semi-finals.

Their squad jetted to Spain on Friday night and were spotted landing at El Prat Airport in the city at around 10:30pm.

Diego Simeone has reportely held emergency talks with Rodri after reports emerged that Manchester City were closing in on the midfielder.

According to AS, the 22-year-old met with Simeone on Thursday as the Argentinian manager looks to convince him to remain at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Barcelona, according to the Daily Mail, are also thought to be interested but as it stands, the former Villarreal man favours City.

Pep Guardiola reveals his decision as speculations grow he could become Juventus manager

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has once again stated today he is “not going to Juventus or to Italy,” even after Max Allegri’s exit.

Juve released a statement today announcing Allegri will not be their Coach for the 2019-20 season, so he leaves a year before his contract was due to expire.

Guardiola is believed to be the name at the top of President Andrea Agnelli’s wish-list, but warned in today’s Press conference that it was simply not going to happen, reports Football Italia.

Maurizio Sarri touted to replace outgoing Max Allegri, in talks with Juventus

There are growing reports in Italy that Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri is in talks with Juventus after Max Allegri’s departure was confirmed.

The announcement was made this afternoon that Allegri would be leaving Juve at the end of the season, terminating his contract a year early by mutual consent.

Football Italia say he will hold a joint Press conference with President Andrea Agnelli tomorrow afternoon, ending a five-year reign with 11 trophies.

According to Sportitalia, who have always been very close to Sarri throughout the tense negotiations between Napoli and Chelsea last summer, the Italian tactician is in talks to take over at Juventus.

He would also be able to reunite with Higuain, as Chelsea do not intend to make his loan move from Juve a permanent switch.

The Sarri link has also been put forward by Sky Sport Italia, pundit Tancredi Palmeri, Tuttomercatoweb and the Chelsea Coach is also the bookies’ favourite.

News agency Ansa point out Sarri is at 4.00 for the role, followed by Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino (4.75), Didier Deschamps (5.00), Lazio’s Simone Inzaghi (5.50) and Antonio Conte (5.50).

Sarri had pushed Juve closer than anyone during Allegri’s reign, leading the Serie A table with Napoli for much of the season before capitulating late on.

He has taken Chelsea to the Carabao Cup Final and will play Arsenal in the Europa League Final, while he also secured third place in the Premier League during his debut campaign.

Sarri has been heavily criticised by sections of the Stamford Bridge crowd this season, despite strong results.

Premier League champions Manchester City will not attempt to hijack Barcelona’s pursuit of Antoine Griezmann.

Griezmann has told Atletico Madrid he will leave the club this summer with La Liga rivals Barcelona set to pay his £108m release clause.

Sky Sports claim on Friday that City were in the running for the 28-year-old, but Guardiola said City could not afford a move for the forward.

“People of Barcelona, don’t worry guys, we are not going to buy Griezmann, we cannot afford it,” the City manager said. “The people at Barcelona don’t need to worry, we are not interested.”
