Chelsea set to seek opinions of club’s senior players to determine Maurizio Sarri’s future

Reports in England claim Chelsea want to gauge the feelings of senior players of the club before a decision is taken over Maurizio Sarri’s future at Stamford Bridge.

Despite finishing third, and reaching the Europa League final, Sarri is not guaranteed to keep his job ahead of next season following a tumultuous season.

And the Stamford Bridge club, according to the Daily Mail, want to assess the harmony within the first team dressing before deciding whether to replace their manager.

Even though Chelsea’s results have improved significantly towards the latter weeks of the season, there are concerns that Sarri’s methods are causing consternation within the senior squad.

Players have held doubts over Sarri’s tactical approach, while some members of the squad have found his sessions monotonous.

The report adds that Sarri’s treatment of captain and loyal club servant Gary Cahill has also irked certain players.

The former England international, who has won seven major trophies in eight season at Stamford Bridge, has been marginalised by Sarri this season.

Chelsea have judged the relationship between players and manager to help determined the futures of previous bosses.

Jose Mourinho was sacked in December 2015, then technical director Michael Emenalo citing a ‘palpable discord between manager and players’.

Chelsea officials are also aware of a disconnect between Sarri and large sections of the club’s supporters, who have been quick to turn on the Italian at various junctures this season.

Lifting the Europa League in Baku on Wednesday could strengthen Sarri’s claim to remain Blues manager next season.

Solskjaer identifies David De Gea’s replacement as goalkeeper turns down Manchester United’s final contract offer

Reports in England claim AC Milan keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma is being lined up as a replacement for Manchester United’s David De Gea.

The Sun report that the Red Devils goalkeeper has turned down a final contract offer from the Old Trafford club amid reports that Paris Saint-Germain are preparing a £60 million bid for De Gea.

The Spain international is reportedly demanding £350,000-a-week to continue at Old Trafford, but United are not willing to offer him that.

PSG, on the other hand, may be happy to pay it. But should the Ligue 1 champions choose to wait until the end of next season, De Gea’s contract at Old Trafford will have expired and they could snap him up on a free transfer.

A summer of significant overhaul is expected at United after their failure to qualify for the Champions League, but they could make the most of Milan’s possible failure to do the same.

Donnarumma would be available for around £65m, Italian outlet Calciomercato reports, and the 20-year-old would cement the No. 1 spot for a decade.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s target loses father as son is set to sign for Manchester United

Reports in England reveal that Daniel James’ £15million Manchester United move has been hit by a family tragedy as his father died suddenly at the age of 60.

The 21-year-old’s move from the Liberty Stadium was expected to be completed this week after weeks of negotiations between Manchester United and Swansea on one side, and the Old Trafford club and the player’s representatives.

According to the Daily Mail, United will give the Swansea winger and his family enough time and space to deal with the bereavement before completing the transfer.

The 21-year-old’s move from the Liberty Stadium was expected to be completed this week but he and the family will be given as much time as they need.

James’ father had been ill but no one in the family had expected him to pass away so suddenly.

An agreement is now in place between the two clubs as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer begins rebuilding his United squad for the long term.

James has caught United’s eye after enjoying a breakthrough season at Swansea, making 38 appearances, scoring five times and setting up 10 goals.

Jorginho’s reaction when asked if he would follow Maurizio Sarri to Juventus as Serie A club circle

Chelsea midfielder Jorginho has reacted to reports over moves by Serie A champions to sign the Blues manager Maurizio Sarri to replace Max Allegri.

The Old Lady and Allegri are expected to part ways at the end of the season, and the Serie A champions are making efforts to sign one of the following candidates: Maurizio Sarri, Pep Guardiola, Antonio Conte, Simone Inzaghi, Mauricio Pochettino, Sinisa Mihajlovic and even Jose Mourinho.

But reports in Italy claim Sarri is seen as the likely candidate to succeed Allegri. Gazzetta dello Sport even reported that Juve President called the Chelsea boss personally on Sunday evening to ask about his availability next season.

Sarri is therefore expected to take a decision on his next move, especially with the problem he is having with Chelsea fans and some senior players in the club.

One of the players considered to be key to his football method is Jorginho, who followed him to Chelsea from Napoli. And, their relationship has been described as that of father and son by Cesc Fabregas.

The Italy international was asked if he would follow Sarri to Juventus, if the coach moved.

“I have four years on my contract with Chelsea,” the midfielder told Sky Sport Italia.

“I’d be surprised he did leave, because we are third in the Premier League behind Manchester City and Liverpool, we’re in the Europa League Final and reached the Carabao Cup Final.

“It has been a positive season. Sarri is relaxed, even more so now than in other stages of the campaign.”

“On the Europa League Final against Arsenal? It’s an international final of a prestigious competition and we are working well to be ready for it”.

“We must believe in our football and know that we can do it. There are great players here and we can bring the trophy home.”

This is the first season in England for both Jorginho and Sarri, so how have they adapted?

“It will be out 63rd competitive match of the season and obviously those start to weigh on you. I see this as a very positive campaign. It’s only natural that at a club like Chelsea, there is going to be all this pressure. There will always be criticism, but I remained calm and relaxed.

“I’ll always have something new to learn and I’ve seen consistent growth throughout the season.”
