Cristiano Ronaldo reacts to Maurizio Sarri’s impending arrival at Juventus

Juventus talisman has reportedly given his blessing to the appointment of Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri by the Old Lady.

The Portuguese star is, however, ‘curious’ to work with the attack-minded ex-Napoli boss, according to the Daily Mail.

Sarri has always adopted a strong preference for attacking football, especially at Napoli where he steered the likes of Gonzalo Higuain and Dries Mertens on to the goal trail at every opportunity.

It was a philosophy that didn’t work with as much success at Chelsea last season but Sarri is set to depart Stamford Bridge having returned the club to the Champions League and won the Europa League.

Italian newspaper Tuttosport report that Sarri is only awaiting confirmation from Chelsea before rubber-stamping his appointment at the Italian champions.

And, in an early boost to his dressing-room authority, Juve’s biggest star Ronaldo has reportedly given his approval.

Sarri has a proven track record of getting the best out of his attackers, who find goals very easy to come by in his ultra-attacking system.

It was under Sarri that Higuain, now a Juventus player, scored a Serie A record 36 goals in 35 matches during the 2015-16 campaign.

And Belgian Mertens enjoyed the best season of his career under Sarri at Napoli in 2016-17, scoring 34 times in all competitions.

REVEALED: Massive prize money Liverpool earned for winning Champions League trophy

Reports in England reveal that Liverpool have banked record-breaking revenues in excess of £250million for the 2018-19 season, after their Premier League and Champions League exploits.

According to the Mirror, For the first time a football club has earned more than a quarter of a billion pounds via competition revenue streams in a single season.

The Reds finished second to Manchester City in England’s top flight, but made more than the champions after appearing three times more than their rivals on UK television.

The breakdown of UK broadcast, international TV and commercial revenue payments saw the newly-crowned European champions take home a cool £152.43million.

Now, having defeated Tottenham in Madrid on Saturday to win Europe’s Premier club competition for the sixth time, prize money from the Champions League heading to Anfield equates to a massive £98.5million.

All in, that means that Kop owners Fenway Sports Group have earned a staggering £250.9million following their side’s exploits this term.

Liverpool pocketed European prize money of just over £67million after winning the competition, £11.3million from their share of pooled TV money and also £20million of revenues from UEFA’s overall pot.

With matchday and commercial income to be added, the Merseysiders’ are on course to post record figures in their 2018-19 accounts and club chiefs are now looking to tie down Klopp to a new contract.

OFFICIAL: Real Madrid complete Luka Jovic move as Eintracht Frankfurt say “Luka is a big loss for us”

Real Madrid have completed a £52.4m (€60m) move for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Luka Jovic on a five-year contract until 2025, subject to passing a medical.

The 21-year-old Serbia international striker will earn him £43.7m (€50m) in total or £8.7m a year.

Frankfurt will pay around £10.5million of their transfer fee to Jovic’s previous club Benfica.

“Luka is a big loss for us. The word has spread in Europe about his explosiveness and his goal-scoring instinct. We’ve benefited not only from his goals over the past two years,” Frankfurt director Fredi Bobic said.

“But for us it was clear that there is a financial pain threshold. For Eintracht Frankfurt this is a good and important transfer. We wish Luka only the best for his future. He has what it takes to have a great career. And we are proud that we were able to support him along the way.”

REVEALED: Why Juventus fans protest against Maurizio Sarri’s appointment as their manager

There are reports that the hashtag #SarriOut has been trending in Italy as Juventus fans express their disappointment that Maurizio Sarri is about to become their new manager.

According to the Daily Mail, the Italian is expected to leave Chelsea for the Serie A champions this week with talks at an advanced stage and Sarri back in his homeland ready to conclude matters.

Sarri is believed to have informed Chelsea of his intention to join Juve during a meeting on Friday, with the Blues unlikely to stand in his way provided the Serie A champions pay £5million in compensation.

The 60-year-old is said to be close to agreeing a three-year contract at the Allianz Stadium – a move will swiftly be completed once Juve pay Chelsea.

But not every Juventus fan is excited at the news, with hundreds taking to Twitter to vent their frustrations with the hashtag #SarriOut, and they have given their reasons.

Some believed an unsubstantiated rumour that Juventus were going to appoint Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola and therefore found Sarri an underwhelming choice.

There is then his connection with Juve’s rivals Napoli – Sarri managed the southern Italian club between 2015 and 2018, twice pushing Juve close in the title race.

In April 2018, with the two clubs competing for the title, Sarri gave the middle finger to a group of Juventus fans who were barracking him as Napoli arrived at the stadium on their team bus.

One fan wrote: ‘We want Pep. Sarri, with his abusive, anti-sporting, rude and homophobic behaviour does not represent us or can ever represent society.’

Another wrote: ‘He practically threw s*** at us for three years and now he’s training us?’

One other comment read: ‘With Sarri I wouldn’t even pass the time of day with him let alone eat a pizza with him. He’s vulgar, rude, sexist and communist.’

And another said: ‘I have not yet made my subscription to Sky football just to see who will be the next coach in case it’s Sarri. I don’t think I’ll renew, I don’t want you at Juve.’

Maurizio Sarri opens up on Juventus move, says “the lure of going home is strong”

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has eventually come out to explain the prospect of becoming the next Juventus manager.

Sarri is the clear favourite to succeed Max Allegri at Juve, and the former Napoli tactician explained why his proposed appointment in Turin did not constitute a betrayal.

“For us Italians, the lure of going home is strong,” he told Vanity Fair.

“You feel that something is missing. It was a heavy year. I began to feel the weight of distant friends, my elderly parents who I rarely see.

“But at my age, I only make professional choices. The Neapolitans know the love I feel for them.

“I chose to go abroad last year so as not to join another Italian team. This profession can lead to other paths, my relationship with them won’t change.

“Loyalty is giving 110 percent when you’re there. What does it mean to be faithful? And if one day your club send you away? What do you do? Stay true to a wife you divorced from?”
