Maurizio Sarri’s father gives update on his son’s move to Juventus

Maurizio Sarri’s father has given an update on his son’s anticipated move to Juventus, saying Chelsea “haven’t released him yet and even he doesn’t know when it’ll happen.”

Tuscan YouTuber Giacomo Carolei visited Sarri’s hometown of Figline Valdarno, on the outskirts of Florence, to ask the locals if there were any updates on the situation, report Football Italia.

He ended up being pointed towards the tactician’s father Amerigo, who was just returning home.

When asked if Sarri had signed for Juventus yet, the response was: “They haven’t released him yet. Even he doesn’t know when it’ll happen.”

The father was asked if he hoped Maurizio would move to Juventus.

“I hope he returns to Italy.”

Sarri has said one of the reasons for his desire to come back to Serie A is to be closer to his parents.

Derby County move to stop Frank Lampard from joining Chelsea

Maurizio Sarri’s move to Juventus could be stalled as Derby have begun talks with Frank Lampard over a new contract at Pride Park – even though it’s expected Chelsea will soon make an approach to make him their new manager.

The Chelsea legend is expected to be named as the next manager of the Stamford Bridge club as Sarri is on his way to Juventus.

Chelsea could further stall Maurizio Sarri’s Juventus appointment with this new development.

The situation has been dragging on for a month now and Juve cannot formally hire Sarri until he has terminated his existing contract by mutual consent.

Lampard has two years left on his existing contract and, Sky Sports report, that Derby were always planning to sit down with him at the end of the season to discuss an improved longer-term deal.

In his first season as a manager, and despite financial restraints and injury problems off the pitch, Lampard took Derby to the Championship play-off final at Wembley.

With no formal approach from Chelsea yet to discuss taking him to Stamford Bridge, Derby are pushing ahead with their plans to secure Lampard, whom they want to build a structure around.

Sky Sports revealed on Friday that there is a clause in Lampard’s existing deal that can see him move to another club for a £4m compensation fee.

It’s thought that would not be an issue for Chelsea, who have made Lampard their priority after agreeing a deal with Juventus to allow Maurizio Sarri to leave.

Barcelona to make offer for Portugal international

Reports in Spain claim Barcelona are willing to offer €25m for Borussia Dortmund’s defence ace Raphael Guerreiro.

The Catalan giants have been on the lookout for a left-back for some time, with Jordi Alba needing a competent backup, but have been looking at more experienced players like Atletico Madrid’s Filipe Luis until now.

David Alaba was the first choice and almost joined Barça last year but the cost of the deal was too high.

According to SPORT, Guerreiro, 25, only has a year left on his contract so Barcelona could get a cheap deal for the Portugal international.

The report adds that Barça tried to sign him back in 2016 but he opted for Dortmund because he didn’t feel he would play enough at the Camp Nou. Instead, they signed Lucas Digne. Guerreiro has improved at Dortmund and can even play further forward in midfield.

Chelsea star reveals how his agent financially exploited him

Chelsea midfielder Jorginho has revealed how he was financially exploited by a football agent when he was a youth player in Italy.

The Italy midfielder, who was born and raised in Brazil, says he was taken to Europe by an agent when he was 15 and signed to Verona, but was struggling to get by on €20 a week, report Sky Sports.

When another player told him the agent had been taking money, he wanted to return home to Brazil but his mother would not let him give up.

“I was playing in this tournament in Brazil and an agent scouted me. He took me and other players to his soccer school, which was 200 kilometres away from where I lived at the time. I spent two years there,” he told Chelseafc.com.

“The idea was he used it to scout players and anyone he thought was good enough he took over to Italy. That’s what he did with me when I was 15. He set me up with a trial at Verona in their youth section and they took me on.

“Because Verona weren’t in Serie A at that time, they didn’t have a youth team, so I played in a local youth team called Berretti. They played in Serie C1/C2. I did that for two years.

“Whilst I was playing for Berretti, I met a fellow Brazilian called Rafael, who was a goalkeeper. I got friendly with him. He was asking me about what I was doing, how long I had been there for, and I told him I was living on €20 a week.

“He said ‘hang on a minute, there’s something not quite right about that’. He made some enquiries and it turned out my agent had been taking money and I knew nothing about it whatsoever.

“At that point I wanted to give up. I was completely devastated. I was fed up. I phoned home in tears and told my mum I wanted to come home and I didn’t want to play football anymore.

“She said ‘don’t even think about it. You’re so close, you’ve been there for a few years, I won’t let you back in the house. You need to stay there and hang tough’. So I stayed.”

Jorginho broke into senior football at Verona before signing for Napoli in 2014, where he emerged as an Italy international under Maurizio Sarri, who took him to Chelsea last summer.

Denis Suarez opens up on his disastrous Arsenal loan spell

Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez has identified a torn groin muscle problem as being responsible for disastrous stint at Arsenal.

The Spanish international joined Unai Emery’s Gunners on a five month loan deal back in January 2019, after making just two La Liga appearances in the first half of the campaign at the Camp Nou.

However, his time in North London was marred by injury, and a widespread view that he just was not cut out for English football – however Suarez has claimed his critics are wrong.

“I suffered what I thought was a torn groin muscle, which turned out to be a serious pelvic injury, he told Spanish radio station Cadena Ser as cited by Football Espana.

“I was in a lot of pain from that moment on at Arsenal, but I continued to train and putting up with it as best as I could.

“However both I, and Mr Emery, knew it was not right.

“From arriving at Arsenal, I was not at 50% fitness and after the 16th (of March), I was less than 50%.”

Details of Maurizio Sarri’s Juventus deal, Chelsea release compensation revealed

Reports in Italy have revealed the details of Maurizio Sarri’s Juventus contract and Chelsea release compensation has emerged.

The former Napoli tactician is reportedly on the verge of a move to Juventus in a bid to replace the Old Lady’s former boss, Max Allegri.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the details are being whittled down in a series of meetings in London and Milan on Friday.

His lawyers met with Chelsea to work out what portion of his salary he’d give up in the termination of their contract by mutual consent.

Juve director Fabio Paratici then met with agent Fali Ramadani in Milan and they agreed a two-year contract with option for another year, rather than the original three-year deal, report Football Italia.

There continue to be very large discrepancies between Italian and English sources on how much compensation Juve will actually pay to Chelsea for the Coach.

Sky Sport insist it’s £1.1m plus performance-related bonuses, whereas various English papers point to anywhere between £5m and £10m.
