Inter Milan set to make huge offer for Romelu Lukaku as Antonio Conte gets desperate to land striker

Reports in Italy claim Inter Milan are planning to make a new offer of £60m plus add-ons for Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku this week.

Sky Sports state tha the proposal, which Inter hope would be structured over two or three years, is for a permanent deal with bonuses designed to help the Serie A club get closer to United’s valuation.

Last week, United told Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio that they want more than the £79m paid to Everton for the Belgian striker in 2017.

The new offer is an improvement on Inter’s initial two-year loan request with instalments of £9m, £27m and £27m to be paid in consecutive years.

Sky Sports reveal that officials at the Italian club are mindful that the English transfer deadline is just over three weeks away and believe United will want time to sign a replacement.

Lampard reveals why he dropped Ethan Ampadu from Japan tour as Aston Villa close in

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard explains Ethan Ampadu’s absent because he could be going on loan for the season.

The Wales midfielder, 18, was not on the plane for Chelsea’s pre-season tour to Japan and is staying at home to thrash out a temporary move away.

Lampard is a big fan of the player and wanted to sign him on loan for Derby last season, so is hopeful he can play a lot of games somewhere this year.

Aston Villa are reportedly interested in signing Ampadu, who has played 12 times for Chelsea’s first team.

He made his debut in December 2017 and featured five times under Maurizio Sarri last season.

He said: “Ethan is not here as we’re looking at the possibility of his going on loan for the season.

“I tried to sign Ethan on loan at Derby last year, so I’m a big fan, but with the minutes he played last year, I have to think of the bigger picture and the interests of Ethan and of Chelsea.

“The idea that he could play a lot of games somewhere is good for him and we haven’t brought him here while that is up in the air.”

Capped eight times by his country, Ampadu started his career at League Two side Exeter City – making his debut at the age of 15 – before a move to Chelsea in 2017.

Barcelona reveal how they obtained loan to secure Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid

Barcelona have disclosed they had to take the sum of €35m on loan to pay for the signing of Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid.

The club’s president Josep Maria Bartomeu admitted at Griezmann’s presentation: ‘The club has taken out a six-month unsecured loan for €35m and the remaining €85m [is covered by] anticipating payments yet to be received.’

The latter practice is known as factoring – a financial tool whereby a third party effectively buys an invoice yet to be paid so that it can later cash it as a profit. Barcelona are due money for players such as Andre Gomes from Everton. Factoring enables them to have that money up front, report the Mail.

Last week the club deposited €120m at the offices of the Spanish League to release Griezmann from his contract.

And when the Frenchman was presented Bartomeu explained how Barcelona raised the money to pay the sum up front, as was necessary to activate the buy-out clause.

The need for the loan and the intricate financial engineering highlights the fact that the club have no money to spend on transfers this summer having already bought Frenkie de Jong.

It explains why director Oscar Grau met with Atletico Madrid chief executive Miguel Angel Gil Marin to ask to pay in instalments. A request that was denied by Atletico Madrid.

Arsenal close on Copa America star as Brazilian confirms lucrative offer to join Gunners

There are reports that Arsenal are on the verge of signing Brazil sensation Everton Soares who says he’s received a lucrative offer to leave Gremio this summer.

Everton has impressed many clubs across Europe with his performances for Gremio and in the recently concluded Copa America for the Brazilian national side.

The 23-year-old scored three times in the Copa America, scoring just as many times in the Brazilian league.

Fox sports in Brazil claim that Arsenal have sent doctors to Brazil to test the medical situation of the winger and they will arrive in Porto Alegre tomorrow to conduct the tests.

According to journalist Emanuele Guilanelli, the Premier League club have agreed with Gremio, claiming that the Gunners will pay £25m for the player – who is allegedly keen on a four-year deal.

The transfer could be completed within the next few days, as Everton revealed he may not be playing the Copa do Brasil quarter-final against Bahia on Wednesday (July 17).

Speaking after Gremio’s match against Vasco on Saturday (July 13), the player said: “I do not know. It’s an unknown.

“Really. I do not know what can happen. As time goes by, things are tapering.

“I have a proposal. I cannot talk to the club.

“I do not guarantee that I will play against Bahia on Wednesday, we will see.”

Real Madrid determined to sell nine first-team players as club move to drastically reduce squad

There are reports in Spain that Real Madrid are still bent on selling as many as nine first-team players as they aim to drastically cut their squad.

Seven players have already left the club either permanently or on loan this summer, meaning their first-team squad now stands at 31 names.

However, the idea is to reduce this to 25 or below for the new season with Los Blancos open to offers for a number of their current players, report Football Espana.

The wish, according to Marca, is that one of Keylor Navas or Andriy Lunin will depart this summer – with Real Betis a likely destination, potentially on loan, for the Ukrainian next season.

The idea is that James Rodriguez will definitely leave while the club also have no plans whatsoever for either Gareth Bale or Borja Mayoral, the report continues.

Additionally, the futures of Jesus Vallejo, Brahim Diaz, Dani Ceballos, Isco, Lucas Vazquez and Mariano Diaz are also unclear – Madrid are open to moves away for all of them, depending on the right offer.
