Chelsea fans slam Frank Lampard for handing club’s No.10 jersey to Willian

Chelsea fans are angry with Frank Lampard over his descision to hand the club’s jersey No.10 Willin.

Eden Hazard wore the shirt for five seasons out of the seven trophy-laden seasons at Stamford Bridge and relinquished it after joining Real Madrid this summer.

Reports claimed Callum Hudson-Odoi was set to receive the talismanic number.

While some thought Christian Pulisic should wear it after joining Chelsea as Hazard’s replacement.

However, it appears that Willian has been given the No 10 jersey for his years of service at Stamford Bridge.

He appeared to confirm it in an interview with YouTube channel Desimpedidos.

“Now the No 10 is mine! The club told me it is mine,” Willian said as cited by the Sun.

But supporters don’t appear to be too keen, with many criticising Frank Lampard’s decision.

One tweeted: “Willian get the 10 is absolutely criminal and nobody can tell me otherwise.

“He has done nothing, and shown nothing to deserve it.”

Another wrote: “Chelsea giving Willian number 10, making him seem like a key player just so they can ask for more money when selling him next summer.”

One added: “Willian is on set pieces, plays as a winger and has 28 goals in six seasons for us.

“We react by not selling him for £60m at the age of 30 but with a new contract and the number 10 shirt.

REVEALED: Why Barcelona are desperate to sign Bayern Munich’s versatile star

Reports in Spain have revealed the reason Barcelona are desperate to sign Bayern Munich’s David Alaba this summer because of his versatility.

The 27-year-old signed for Bayern in 2009 and has become an established starter for the team in recent years, with his versatility one of his greatest assets.

According to El Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan giants view the Austrian international as a ‘four in one player’, referencing his tactical flexibility.

The German champions have already signed Lucas Hernandez in an €80m deal from Atletico Madrid this summer – who will provide direct competition at left-back for Alaba, Football Espana report.

The Austrian is the latest player to be linked to the Camp Nou to provide back-up for Jordi Alba, the long-term number one left-back at the club, following on from Filipe Luis – out of contract at Atletico Madrid – and Junior Firpo of Real Betis.

Alaba is out of contract at the Bavarian club in the summer of 2021 and any move could signal a transfer away for teenage full-back Juan Miranda.
