Chelsea fans disappointed as Frank Lampard hands Willian club’s iconic No.10 shirt (Check confirmed squad numbers for 2019/20 season here)

Chelsea fans have been sent into meltdown after Frank Lampard let Willian take Eden Hazard’s vacant No 10 jersey for next season.

The 30-year-old joined Chelsea in 2013 for £30m from Anzhi and has since won two Premier League titles, one FA Cup and one Europa League.

The club’s fans are divided over whether Callum Hudson-Odoi or Christian Pulisic should have been handed. But the consensus is that Lampard shouldn’t have give Willian the shirt.

Meanwhile, the Brazilian claimed that he had been promised the number.

Hazard wore the iconic Blues shirt for five of the seven years he spent at Stamford Bridge before his blockbuster £150million move to Real Madrid.

Hudson-Odoi had reportedly requested the number 10 during contract talks but Chelsea have confirmed he will continue wearing the No 20 for next season.

And suffice to say, fans are not keen on the club’s new appointment, with many criticising Frank Lampard’s decision, the Sun report.

One harshly tweeted: “Wanted Willian out whilst Fat Frank bestows him the number 10? Shame we let him go. Miss you Sarri.”

Another simply said: “Willian 10 = Disgrace.”

One more added: “Can’t wait for kepa to outscore our new number 10. Even Lampard will probably do more than Willian.”

But twitter user CFC Futbol theorised: “One year of Willian, then sell him next summer and whoever did better between CHO/CP gets the the number 10 or a new signing. Good choice.”

Despite this supporters hope, Willian is reportedly set to pen a two-year contract extension at Chelsea.

Disgraceful decision to give Willian the no 10 shirt, doesn’t deserve it.

Tension as Zinedine Zidane battles Real Madrid board over move for Dutch star

Reports in Spain and England claim Zinedine Zidane is at loggerheads with the Real Madrid board after reports suggested that they are now targeting Ajax maestro Donny van de Beek instead of Paul Pogba.

Despite signing a number of high-profile players already this summer, which includes the £150m capture of Eden Hazard, Real’s summer has got off to a woeful start after enduring their worst pre-season in 39 years.

Los Blancos were handed a disheartening 7-3 drubbing by Atletico Madrid.

Zidane is adamant Pogba is the answer to all of Real’s problems in midfield and he has been relentless in his pursuit of the unsettled Manchester United star.

However, according to MARCA, Real have now turned their attention to Van de Beek following a summer of struggles in trying to lead Pogba away from Old Trafford.

Spanish news outlet AS are also reporting that Real have ‘moved on to Plan B’ with Van de Beek their alternative to Pogba.

They insist the 22-year-old Dutchman, who played a starring role in Ajax reaching the Champions League semi-finals last season, will cost somewhere in the region of £60million – a much cheaper alternative to the £150m United are asking for Pogba.

However, Zidane is desperate to get a deal for Pogba over the line, no matter what the cost.

The French manager is already on bad terms with president Florentino Perez over Gareth Bale’s blocked move to China last month – a player he is desperate to offload, the Daily Mail report.

The Welsh wizard was on the verge of sealing a mouth-watering £1m-per-week move Jiangsu Suning when Perez stopped the stunning switch.

Barcelona legend Ronaldinho in fresh problem with Brazil government

There are reports that former Barcelona star Ronaldinho is not allowed to leave Brazil as his Brazilian and Spanish passports have been confiscated over unpaid taxes and fines.

This new problem surfaced after the Brazilian has had 57 properties seized and owes more than €2m to the country, as reported by Diario AS.

Local media outlet Folha de Sao Paulo is cited as describing how Ronaldinho was fined €2.2m for illegally building a pier at his lake house in the city of Porto Alegre.

However, alongside this environmental fine there is a further €1.8m fine in other debts, such as council taxes, which are being pursued by creditors.

The report adds that the former footballer’s debts are accumulating and there is also a new added demand that is being processed by the Office of the National Attorney General of Brazil for €184k.

The Brazilian Court has decided, according to Football Espana, to seize Ronaldinho’s two passports, both Brazilian and Spanish, due to not having paid a fine from the Treasury. This retention means that he cannot leave Brazil.

In his defence, he is asking to have his Spanish passport returned.
