Chelsea fans heap praise on Emerson after Italy victory as star says “this is the best period of my career”

Chelsea fans have poured encomiums on their defender Emerson Palmieri over his impressive display for the Azzurri in
the Euro 2020 qualification match against Armenia on Wednesday.

Italy, featuring another Chelsea star Jorginho, won the match 3-1 away from home with Emerson leading the Azzurri onslaught through the left flank and providing an assist.

The left-back did well to get to the byline, and escaping the attentions of his marker, Emerson picked out Andrea Belotti at the back post and the Torino star – once linked with a move to Stamford Bridge – made no mistake.

After the match Emerson admits “this is the best period of my career”, making reference to his performances at Chelsea and Italy.

“I am happy with the assist as it helped the team, but I am above all pleased with an important win,” the left-back told Rai Sport.

“In the first 15 minutes, Armenia were simply better and we have to give them credit, but after that we dominated the game and deserved the victory.

“The pitch was bad, but it cannot be an alibi, as both teams were playing on it. Naturally, if you have more technique, it’s more of a problem…

“I think it is the best period of my career. I’m very happy at Chelsea, just as I was last season with Maurizio Sarri. Obviously, a player is always happier when he plays regularly.”

Chelsea supporters took to the social media, especially Twitter to express their joy over the Emerson’s performance.

(WATCH VIDEO): N’Golo Kante reacts to Liverpool fan’s request to Chelsea star to join Jurgen Klopp’s team

N’Golo Kante laughed off a Liverpool fan who attempted to persuade him to join the Merseyside club.

The Chelsea midfielder made a surprise appearance at a wedding on Sunday as he has missed the international break with France due to injury.

And while at the event, the World Cup winner was subjected to multiple proposals from a Liverpool supporter.

During one exchange, the Liverpool fan flashed his ‘This is Anfield’ keyring at Kante and told him: ‘This is where you need to come, this is where you need to come.’

But Kante’s response will delight Chelsea fans as he flashed a big smile at the Liverpool supporter and shook his head, report the Metro.

The father of the bride, Frank Khalid, also revealed that Kante stayed until the end of the wedding and happily posed for photos with other guests.

In fact, The Sun add, it isn’t the first time that Liverpool secret agents have tried to lure the tough tackling Frenchman to Anfield.

Another unannounced visit, this time to a mosque in North London, saw Kante politely tell a fan he would “think about” switching clubs when asked.

The humble midfielder had popped in for evening prayers having missed his train and ended up having a curry and watching Match of the Day with a group of locals.

This appearance at a wedding was slightly less off the cuff as Kante had met the bride’s father, Chelsea fan Frank Khalid, before.

Kepa rescues Spain, wins accolades (Watch his superb last-minute save)

Kepa Arrizabalaga emerged as a hero in Spain’s win over Romania when he made a superb save in the last-minute to ensure his country made it five wins from five with a tense victory (1-2) over the hosts in Group F.

He was declared Man of the Match by Football Espana for a great all round display capped with key saves and a fantastic intuitive stop with his legs right at the end to rescue his nation.

Kepa denied Reading striker George Puscas with his legs as 10-man Spain recorded a first win in Romania.

As Spain dropped their intensity and rhythm, the hosts rallied and responded with a goal by substitute Florin Andone and soon after Spain defender Diego Llorente was sent off as Spain were put on the rack in a game they were relatively comfortable in.

However, Spain showed enough composure and effective game management to take the sting out of the game and see the game out, thanks largely to their Arrizabalaga who produced a fantastic display between the posts.

Spain, adopting a 4-3-3 attacking formation, dominated for the majority of exchanges – creating 20 shot to their opponents 7 with an on the whole upwardly mobile, confident and positive performance.

La Roja showed some nice interplay and all the hallmarks of their identity which has enabled them to secure all 15 points so far in their Group F Euro 2020 group campaign.

Before the match, Spain had never won in Romania but banished that record with collecting the three points. However, Spain did make life hard for themselves not to put the game to bed earlier.

Ramos scored his 12th penalty for Spain and is their top scorer in their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign with four goals to his name.
