REVEALED: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer severance pay-off if sacked by Manchester United

Reports in England claim Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would get a £7million pay-off, compared to Jose Mourinho’s £19.6m, if Manchester United sack him after their worst start in 30 years.

According the Sun, the Old Trafford boss, who hosts leaders Liverpool on October 20 in a Premier League game crucial to his future, would pick up little more than a year’s wages.

Norwegian Solskjaer (7/4) is behind only Everton chief Marco Silva (evens) as the bookies’ favourite to be the next Prem manager axed.

The United board were cautious over contract details when they appointed the Norwegian – as they are wary of the growing list of failed successors to Alex Ferguson’s outstanding reign from 1986 to 2013.

And The Metro claim Solskjaer agreed his severance pay-off would be around his annual wages of £6m, whereas Mourinho earned £15m a year.

Chelsea loanee struck by knee injury, ruled out for rest of the season

Chelsea loanee Charly Musonda has been ruled out for the rest of the season while on loan at Vitesse Arnhem.

The 22-year-old suffered a knee injury for the second season in a row and he’s been limited to just four games in two Dutch loan spells.

He had featured in Vitesse’s first three games of the season, but had been out since mid-August with a knee injury. At that time the injury did not sound too significant, but it now looks like that it could keep him out for the entire season.

The latest injury – which has only now been confirmed as a knee problem – will see him return to London for treatment.

Mason Mount identifies Chelsea star who helped his integration into Blues first-team squad

Chelsea star Mason Mount has singled out Jorginho as a key figure in his integration into the first-team squad this season.

Mount, 20, has played a big role in Chelsea’s Premier League campaign, having started all eight games so far.

The Blues have surprised many by picking up four wins from eight games, despite Frank Lampard favouring young players over experienced figures in the dressing room.

Mount has been one of those youngsters used by Lampard, and has been one of the brightest sparks of the campaign.

The attacking midfielder has scored four goals and provided one assist in his first season in the Premier League.

Question marks were raised at the beginning of the season over whether he could continue that form in the Premier League, but the 20-year-old has certainly put that doubt to bed, report Daily Express.

”When you’re coming into a team and playing with someone like Jorginho, how much of a character he is and how big he is within the team, he’s had a massive effect on me,” Mount said.

“I think playing with him, being around him, training with him every day [has helped].

“He’s a massive player for us and you learn so much off a player with that experience of playing at a very, very high level.”

Former Tottenham player Jamie Redknapp was full of praise for Mount after the Southampton game.

Speaking on Sky Sports, he said the youngster is “ice-cool” in front of goal before comparing him to Lampard.

“They had one of the best ever in Frank Lampard. Now they’ve got this young kid [Mount] who has four goals,” Redknapp said.

“I don’t want to put too much pressure on him but he’s got to get to at least double figures this season.

“The way he finishes is so composed. He’s ice-cool in front of goal. He’s just a good player.”

Emenalo reveals how one of former Chelsea managers put pressure on Abramovich to scrap club’s academy

Former Chelsea technical director Michael Emenalo has revealed that one of the club’s ex-managers urged Roman Abramovich to scrap the club’s academy.

Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori have all come through the ranks to establish themselves as regular starters under Frank Lampard, who was in part appointed because of his willingness to use young players.

The trio have all been called up to the senior England squad for upcoming games against the Czech Republic and Bulgaria, while Callum Hudson-Odoi and Reece James, who have also featured under Lampard, are part of the Under 21 squad.

Emenalo, who spent a decade in various roles at Stamford Bridge before leaving in 2017, took responsibility for developing the club’s young players under bosses including Jose Mourinho, Andre Villas-Boas and Antonio Conte.

The manager in question claimed that Chelsea’s academy was too expensive to run and that it should only be used to ‘make some money here and there’.

However, with the help of Abramovich, who has always wanted the club to produce its own first-team players, the ex-Nigeria international ensured that the manager’s plans were ignored, report the Daily Mail.

Speaking to The Telegraph, Emenalo, who also worked at the club during the reigns of Carlo Ancelotti and Roberto Di Matteo, said: ‘I defended the academy when there was pressure and doubt and pessimism.

‘There was a time when there was a clamour to do more and a manager came in to make a presentation to say the academy was not necessary. The argument was it takes too long, we don’t have time, we should use it to make some money here and there, and that the owner should stop pumping money into it because it seemed like a waste.

‘But that wasn’t my idea and I had to fight against it. This is where I am very, very proud of the owner Roman Abramovich because of the trust he had in me and the willingness to listen to me and give the academy time. He would not abandon it. He believed in it and in me, and I can’t thank him enough for that.’

Tammy Abraham, Fikayo Tomori, Mason Mount, others arrive at England camp for Euro Qualifiers

Chelsea duo Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori have joined England squad St. George’s Park ahead of preparations for October’s Euro Qualifiers.

With an away double-header against Czech Republic and Bulgaria to come over the next seven days, Gareth Southgate’s group got straight down to work in the afternoon with a session for those who had played in Saturday games for their clubs while there was a recovery session for those who featured in Sunday’s fixtures.

After four games, the Three Lions are top of the group and three points clear of Czech Republic in second.

Both Abraham and Tomori were at the camp last season with the MU21s squad, but are now with the Three Lions following their call-up last week.

The call-up is reward for a fine start to the season for both Abraham and Tomori, with the former at the top of the Premier League goal scoring charts with eight, alongside Sergio Aguero.

Tomori has also impressed with several astute defensive displays and he himself got among the goals, firing in a fine long range effort against Wolves, a game in which Abraham bagged three.

Meanwhile Frank Lampard warned them: “It is great news for them, but as I keep saying that it is just the start. The minute any standards drop or complacency kicks in then they will all suffer.

“I am pleased they smile, they need to take this now, something to add to their armoury and say, ‘Okay I am an England player, I am in the England squad. I need to show even more, game in and game out for us’.”
