Marcos Alonso shows his prowess as free-kick specialist (Watch video of his spectacular freekick in training)

Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso showcased his outrageous dead-ball ability in training as he scored into the top corner with team mate Willy Caballero used as a target.

According to Sportsmail, the 28-year-old managed to convince the goalkeeper to climb onto the goal frame and leave a space in the top right corner for him to place the ball from outside the penalty area and to Cabellero’s relief, Alonso managed to pull it off.

Alonso is one of a few free-kick taker options in Frank Lampard’s side with Willian, Mason Mount and Jorginho also gifted from dead-ball scenarios.

The Chelsea wing-back posted the video to his Instagram account with the caption ‘When you need your bro to train free-kicks but he trusts you’.

Frank Lampard reveals his discussion with Olivier Giroud as striker eyes Chelsea exit in January

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has revealed he “had a good chat with Oli before he went away and I always respect all the players.”

Despite playing regularly for Les Bleus, Giroud has been consigned to the Chelsea bench while Tammy Abraham takes the cetral stage for the London club.

The youngster has scored eight goals in the Premier League, and Frank Lampard has therefore kept faith with Abraham.

Giroud insisted over the international break that he would work hard to win back his place in the starting XI but also refused to rule out requesting a move away from Stamford Bridge.

As much as the Blues manager wants to keep the France international in the team, he won’t stop the him from considering his options in January.

‘I had a good chat with Oli before he went away and I always respect all the players, but particularly the players of that age of low thirties,’ Lampard said.

‘I love his professionalism. He was bang on when he spoke to me and with his quotes [suggesting he could request a move in January] when he was away with France.

‘He shouldn’t be happy and accept not playing. That’s what good players do. I think, as I said to Oli, he will get his games and be a big influence for us.

‘At the moment, because of how Tammy is playing, there hasn’t been the minutes, so I would happily sit down with Oli in January. But that is a long way away. I want him here.’

David Luiz sheds more light on why he left Chelsea after “honest” talks with Frank Lampard

Former Chelsea defender David Luiz has lifted the lid on “honest” talks with Frank Lampard before leaving Stamford Bridge for Arsenal.

The Gunners defender swapped Stamford Bridge for the Emirates in the summer in a surprise transfer following the appointment of his ex-Blues teammate Lampard.

Luiz had two spells at Chelsea, either side of a three-year stint at Paris Saint-Germain.

Luiz insists the decision to leave Chelsea was made before Arsenal declared their interest in the Brazilian, despite only penning fresh terms in west London in May.

“I decided to leave Chelsea before there was contact with Arsenal,” he told The Telegraph as cited by the Mirror.

“People do not know that but I decided early to leave Chelsea. After that I had contact with Arsenal and I took a decision which everybody knows was not easy.

“Me and Lampard, we had honest conversations. Man to man, me and him. His ideas of football were different to mine. We just agreed: ‘OK, we move on’. In an honest way, in a mature way.

“We played together, we won together. We won the Champions League, the Europa League, everything together. It was done in a mature way.”

Real Madrid commence talks with Jose Mourinho as Zidane faces uncertain future at Bernabeu

Reports in Spain claim Real Madrid have already been in contact with former boss Jose Mourinho in anticipation of Zinedine Zidane’s exit.

The Portuguese boss managed Los Blancos between 2010 and 2013, with the highlight of his tenure being the 2012 La Liga title.

Mourinho managed Madrid to 128 victories in his 178 matches at the helm while he also won the Copa del Rey in 2011 and the Spain Supercopa the following year.

The experienced manager has been out of work since last December, when he was sacked by Manchester United, and has been involved in various punditry positions since.

Zidane’s position at Madrid is under renewed scrutiny following Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at newly-promoted Real Mallorca and El Chiringuito say the club are linking up Mourinho as a replacement, report Football Espana.

He has been linked with a return to the Spanish capital various times over the past 12 months and is said to hold excellent relations with the club’s president Florentino Perez.

Madrid remain second in the standings in La Liga but have underwhelmed this season with Saturday night’s loss in Mallorca another low point.

A report from Diario Sport two months ago stated that Perez is keeping the option of Mourinho’s return open this season.

Chelsea, set to join Liverpool, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, others in expanded FIFA Club World Cup in China

Liverpool and Chelsea are set to join Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and other 20 teams at Club World Cup after FIFA granted the nation the rights to host the inaugural version of its expanded competition which is popularly known as Confederations Cup.

A freshly designed, 24-team tournament has been scheduled for 2021 and a host of elite level teams have been pencilled in to participate.

The decision to award the hosting rights to China will be announced on Friday in Shanghai after it is confirmed in a vote of FIFA’s governing council at its quarterly meeting, as report the New York Times.

Once the final plans have been confirmed, the new event will be brought in to replace the unpopular Confederations Cup.

As it does for the World Cup, according to Sportsmail, Europe will provide more competitors for the event than FIFA’s other five regional confederations.

The structure of the tournament, in line with FIFA’s plans, would see Europe have eight places in the 24-team field.

South America would have the next largest allotment, with six, and the remainder would qualify from the other regional confederations, including three from CONCACAF. The inaugural hosting of the competition has been awarded to China in reward to the nation’s commitment to investing in their own football project over recent years.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino had reportedly wanted to include 12 European teams in the inaugural event, but this was reduced on request of UEFA.

The top two European competitions – the Champions League and the Europa League, would take two of the eight allocated slots over each four year period.
