Manchester City star to miss Chelsea clash as FA hands Pep Guardiola’s key player ban

Manchester City star has been handed one-match ban thereby ruling him out of the match against Chelsea at the Etihad on November 23.

The Portugal international is also expected to pay £50,000 fine for his tweet about teammate Benjamin Mendy, who he compared to the character on the front of packets of Conguitos.

The FA has alleged that Silva’s tweet brought the game into disrepute and that the post constituted an “aggravated breach” of its rules on social media behaviour because it appeared to reference the left-back’s race.

Although the FA said the intent wasn’t racist, they decided to ban the player for Manchester City’s next match and this means he won’t be able to take on Chelsea.

“Many persons would have taken offence to the content,” the FA said.

“The player did not himself intend the post to be insulting or in any way racist.

“It is clear that the tweet was intended to be no more than a joke between close friends.”However, this was not a private communication between two friends.

“The post was on a social media platform exposed to the 600,000 followers of a high-profile and well-respected professional footballer.

“Many persons viewing the imagery depicted in the tweet would have taken offence to the content as being insulting by reference to race, colour and ethnic origin in a way that unquestionably brings the game of football into disrepute.”

Riyad Mahrez is expected to replace the 25-year-old on the right-hand side of an attacking trio alongside Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero.

Argentina striker confirms Chelsea transfer interest, says “the fact that Chelsea is following me is a little moving”

Argentina youngster Matias Godoy has confirmed a transfer approach from Chelsea, saying he is flattered by Premier League giants’ interest.

Godoy plays for Argentinian second division team Atletico Rafaela, having made his debut for the first team when he was only 16 years old.

Inter Milan and AC Milan are equally following the exciting 17-year-old forward Godoy, whose impressive performances with the Argentinian Under-17 squad caught the attention of the Nerazzurri, according to Corriere dello Sport.

Reports in Italy add the west London outfit have made launched a bid in the region of £3m in a bid to steal a march on the Serie A giants.

However, the Milan clubs do have a slight advantage as they are able to sign players in January – something which the Blues are waiting to find out if they’ll be able to do.

Last week it was confirmed the club’s transfer ban appeal will be heard by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) at the court’s headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland, on Wednesday, November 20.

And it would appear that Godoy is pushing for a move to Stamford Bridge after confirming their interest when speaking to TYCSports recently.

“The fact that Chelsea is following me is a little moving and I take it in the best way possible but must continue to work,” he said.

“I am full of pride. Me and my family have made a very big sacrifice to get here.

“Already being in the National Team is a great pride for me.”

Barcelona set to battle Juventus for Frank Lampard’s key player

Reports in Spain and Italy claim that Barcelona and Juventus are poised to slug it out in their bid to sign Chelsea star Willian.

The 31-year-old’s contract expires at the end of the season and Corriere dello Sport claims Juve sporting director Fabio Paratici is weighing up a cut-price deal for the Brazilian in January.

Only yesterday, former Shakhtar Donetsk coach Mircea Lucescu suggested Willian would be an “ideal” signing for Maurizio Sarri’s side.

His resurgence this season under new Stamford Bridge chief Frank Lampard has convinced the Catalans the Old Lady they need to get him quickly.

According to Catalan sports daily Mundo Deportivo, Barca want the forward as the club need to freshen up their attack with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez moving toward the end of their Nou Camp careers.

Blues boss Lampard is also keen on keeping the South American, and the club are trying desperately to get him to sign a new deal so he does not leave for nothing next year.

Willian can sign a pre-contract in January with a foreign club.

And Nou Camp chiefs are ready top offer him a mega-money deal to lure him away from England.

Alvaro Morata reveals Chelsea stars’ contribution to his Stamford Bridge struggle

Atletico Madrid striker Alvaro Morata claims his former Chelsea teammates lost faith in his ability during his time at Stamford Bridge.

The 27-year-old was signed by Chelsea for £60 million in July 2017 but the Spaniard struggled to make an impact with 24 goals in 72 appearances.

Less than two years later, Chelsea allowed Morata to join Atletico on loan before the move was made permanent earlier this summer.

And the striker admits his confidence took a major dent during his stint in the Premier League.

“I had stopped enjoying it,” Morata told COPE as cited by the Metro.

“Now I’m happy, there were times I didn’t even believe in myself.

“In some games in England I felt like when my teammates saw me unmarked, I knew they thought I wouldn’t do anything good with the ball.

“I didn’t feel like doing anything, leaving home, talking to people, nothing.

“The only thing I had in mind was going to the World Cup, playing and being happy, and in the end I was quite the opposite of happy.”

Morata also concedes that the pressure at Chelsea got too much for him and forced him to seek a move away in January.

“If only I’d been able to mature before 20-22 years old, but I’d never faced such a limiting situation,” he said.

“I told my wife that we were going to go as far away as possible in January because I couldn’t deal with this pressure.

“Atletico came up, I had six or seven big offers and Chelsea wanted me to stay, but I decided to do what I’d been looking to do for various summers.”

N’Golo Kante picks Chelsea fans’ favourite when asked to choose player he would sign as Blues manager

N’Golo Kante has revealed who he would move for in the transfer market if he were suddenly installed as Chelsea manager.

Speaking to Chelsea’s official app, The 5th Stand, Kante was asked about who he would sign for the Blues if he were in the hotseat instead of Frank Lampard – though with the added caveat that the player in question could also be retired.

The World Cup winner responded with a diplomatic answer destined to please Chelsea fans: “I’d probably say John Terry because when I came to Chelsea, he was the figure of the club and knows what it means to be here.

“I knew all about him from a young age and he helped the club very well.”

Terry, who became Chelsea’s most successful captain after 22 years at the club, and is current the assistant head coach of Aston Villa.

Kante also opened up about how he felt when signing for the club from Leicester City back in 2016, Evening Standard report.

Having won the Premier League title with the Foxes – who were 5,000/1 outsiders at the beginning of the 2015/16 season – Kante swapped the King Power Stadium for Stamford Bridge, and inspired his new club to to the title in 2017.

Kante said of his transfer: “I was very happy to be at this club, very proud to be a Chelsea player and just looking forward to the challenges ahead.”
