Jose Mourinho responds to “Mr. Chelsea” tag, insists he doesn’t need new signings to succeed at Tottenham

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho has denied the notion that he is Mr. Chelsea, the tag he got because of his relationship with the Stamford Bridge club having had two stints with the Blues as their manager.

The Portuguese was appointed as Mauricio Pochettino’s replacement on Wednesday morning, just 12 hours after the Argentine’s sacking.

The former Chelsea boss said:”I think they have to see me as Mr Inter, Mr Real Madrid, Mr Porto. I am a club man, but a many clubs man.

“I am not Chelsea, I am not Inter, I am not Real Madrid, I am all of them. I gave everything to all of them and that is what I am going to give here.

“I decided to have this adventure, go to different countries, until what I call the grand slam, England, Spain and Italy. I did it with this passion and then the Premier League, I thought, is my natural habitat.”

Mourinho insists he doesn’t need new signings to be successful at Tottenham.

“The best gift are the players who are here. I don’t need new players. I just need to get to know these ones better,” he told reporters.

“I know them well but you never know them well enough until you meet them.

“I told the players I came here because of them. I tried to buy some for different clubs and some I didn’t even try because you know how difficult it was.”

He will be in charge for Tottenham’s trip to West Ham on Saturday afternoon.

Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte’s daughter threatened in Italy

Reports in Italy claim Inter Milan coach Antonio Conte received a letter threatening his daughter and Antonio Pintus, a staff member and a former Juventus fitness coach.

The letter, according to Football Italia, is said to have been traced back to Florence, contained a rifle cartridge and a threatening letter directed at the former Juventus coach with the text “we know where you live and who your daughter is.”

La Stampa reports that the local police in Milan has been in touch with Conte and he doesn’t recognise the writing, nor the content particularly reminding him of anyone.

The letter contained an eight-gauge cartridge, mainly used for hunting, and could be tracked back to Florence by the authorities.

There’s a possible supporter of an opposing team, who is annoyed by the Inter side and their good performances this term, but also one from the Nerazzurri who doesn’t approve of his past in Turin.

The fact Pintus, formerly of Juventus and Real Madrid, was also mentioned would suggest it is a grudge about their Bianconeri past.

The letter contained writing in black, listing the names of his family members and the text: “We know where you live… We know who your daughter is.”

However, the letter was sent to the Inter HQ and not directly to Conte’s home, which suggests the information about his address is incorrect.

Chelsea suffer setback as key player set to miss Manchester City clash

There are reports in England Christian Pulisic is set to miss Chelsea’s game at Man City on Saturday with a hip injury.

The American missed his nation’s clash with Canada in the international break and stayed in London for treatment instead.

Frank Lampard was hoping to have him back in time for the top of the table clash after he came off injured against Palace last time out.

But it looks increasingly likely the winger will miss out.
