Carlo Ancelotti returns to Premier League as Everton confirm his appointment as manager

Former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti has returned to the Premier League after Everton confirmed his appointment as their new permanent manager.

The 60-year-old won the Premier League, FA Cup and Charity Shield at Chelsea in 2009-11.

He was dismissed from his post at Napoli hours after helping the Partenopei qualify for the round of 16 in the Champions League early in the month.

The Italian was in the stands at Goodison Park for today’s Premier League match against Arsenal, which ended in goalless draw.

Speaking after his appointment by Everton, Ancelotti told evertonfc.com that: “This is a great club with a rich history and a very passionate fan base.

“There is a clear vision from the Owner and the Board to deliver success and trophies. That is something that appeals to me as a manager and I am thrilled at the prospect of being able to work with everybody at the Club to help make that vision a reality.

“I have seen from the performances in the last two weeks that the players are capable of so much. The work Duncan (Ferguson) has done is a great credit to him. Strong organisation, strong discipline and the right motivation are some of the key ingredients in football and I’m pleased that he will be part of my backroom team moving forward.”

He could not accept a new role until he had terminated his contract with Napoli by mutual consent, as it was due to run until June 2021.

Following that meeting, according to Football Italia, Ancelotti waved goodbye to Naples by having lunch in the Marechiaro area of the city on Friday.

Barcelona reveal Arturo Vidal price for Inter Milan move as Antonio Conte seeks reunion

There are reports that Barcelona have fixed the sum of €20m for Arturo Vidal’s move from Camp Nou.

But Inter Milan are reportedly hoping the Chile international can push the Catalan club to at least agree a loan with option to buy.

Antonio Conte wants to reunite with the Vidal, having worked together at Juventus, and the club has made absolutely no secret of its interest.

The main sticking point is the cost of the operation, made even more complicated for Inter after their Champions League group stage exit, report Football Italia.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Barcelona want €20m to sell Vidal in the January transfer window.

They might be prepared to accept a six-month loan with obligation to buy in June, but Inter are hoping to make that either a dry loan or one with option to buy rather than obligation.

Italian papers suggest Vidal could help Inter out by trying to force a January exit, especially after reports he had stormed out of training when discovering he wasn’t in the starting XI to face Real Madrid midweek.

The 32-year-old has made 18 competitive appearances for Barcelona this season, contributing four goals and one assist.

However, he has not started a Liga game in almost two months.
