Half-Time Report: Chelsea 1-0 Arsenal… David Luiz sees red on Stamford Bridge return, booed by Chelsea fans

Chelsea are ahead of Arsenal at the break as former Blues star David Luiz was red-carded for bringing down goal-bound Tammy Abraham.

Jorginho made no mistake by scoring the only goal of the half.

Shkodran Mustafi put David Luiz under all sorts of pressure with a short backpass, Luiz tried to recover and
brought down Abraham who was just about to put the ball in the net.

The Brazilian left the referee with no option but to point to the spot and wave red.

Jorginho rolled the ball into the bottom corner. Bernd Leno went the right way but had absolutely no chance

Granit Xhaka was took up David Luiz’s position. The Brazilian was booed by a good portion of the crowd, and all this defensive passing is giving everyone many chances to vent their fury.

Chelsea had earlier hit the bar. Hudson-Odoi, having moved to the left to take a corner, got the ball back. His right-footed cross worried Leno, but clipped the top of the bar on its way out of play.

Despite having more possession in the first half, Arsenal did not register any shots on goal.

In contrast, Chelsea had nine attempts on goal and three on target.

Frank Lampard responds to Chelsea move for PSG’s goal merchant Edinson Cavani

Frank Lampard has not ruled out a move for Paris Saint-Germain forward Edinson Cavani as Chelsea look to boost their squad this month.

The Ligue 1 giants’ striker has been linked with a move to the Premier League with Chelsea and Manchester United among the clubs rumoured to be interested in the 32-year-old.

And both clubs have been put on alert amid confirmation that Cavani has requested to leave the Ligue 1 giants this month, despite his contract expiring at the end of the season.

“He’s a great player; I played against him and always loved his mentality and attitude, and his scoring record speaks for itself,” said Lampard.

“I’m not absolutely aware of what the situation is, so we’ll see.

“The idea of bringing in experience is something I’m certainly not absolutely looking away from, because sometimes the young players need a little bit of help, and if that’s the case then that may help us.”
