Burnley sink Manchester United at Old Trafford (Match Report & Watch Rodriquez goal)

Goals from Chris Wood and Jay Rodriguez handed Burnley a shock win against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka created early chances for Anthony Martial and Juan Mata, but both came to nothing.

Burnley took the lead six minutes before the break when Wood met Ben Mee’s flick-on and finished first-time.

The Clarets’ lead was doubled 11 minutes after half-time when Rodriguez blasted a shot from the corner of the area past David De Gea at his near post.

Mata sent a free-kick over the bar and Mason Greenwood flashed a shot wide, but United could not find a breakthrough.

United are fifth on 34 points, level with Tottenham Hotspur and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Burnley’s first win at Old Trafford since 1962 lifts them to 13th, joining four other clubs on 30 points.

Half-Time Report: Manchester United 0-1 Burnley

Chris Wood’s goal is separating Burnley from Manchester United at the break at Old Trafford in another miserable performance from the Red Devils.

Former Man City youngster Ben Mee flicked the ball on to Wood who smashed the ball in at the front post on the half-volley, a brilliantly powerful finish from the New Zealander.

The half-time whistle is welcomed by boos around Old Trafford, with United missing a couple of good chances in an otherwise dreary encounter as Juan Mata and Anthony Martial frittered away clear chances for the home side.

Edinson Cavani’s father hands Chelsea transfer blow amid race to sign PSG striker

Edinson Cavani’s dad has been talking up a move to Atletico Madrid for his son, in a blow to Chelsea and other English clubs.

The Blues, Tottenham and Manchester United have all been linked with the Uruguayan after he submitted a transfer request at Paris Saint-Germain.

Cavani’s contract at PSG runs out at the end of the season and he has seen his game time limited this season by the arrival of Mauro Icardi in Paris.

His father Luis said: “He want to play for another team in Europe. That would please me that he plays at Atletico, yes.

“If tomorrow he is available and Atletico still want him, he will sign.”

Hector Bellerin saves Mikel Arteta’s blushes with late equaliser for Arsenal as David Luiz sees red on Stamford Bridge return (Match Report)

Hector Bellerin’s dramatic late equaliser secured a point for 10-man Arsenal against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Arsenal’s Shkodran Mustafi underhit a backpass on 28 minutes, allowing Tammy Abraham to dribble around Bernd Leno before being fouled by David Luiz.

The Brazilian was shown a straight red card and Jorginho rolled in the penalty, but Arsenal were galvanised by falling behind.

After 63 minutes Gabriel Martinelli embarked on a run from inside his own half and took advantage of a slip by N’Golo Kante to race clear and slide a cool finish beyond Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta looked to have won the match for Chelsea six minutes from the end when he tapped in from Callum Hudson-Odoi’s pass.

But Gunners skipper Bellerin, on his first appearance since early December, earned his side a point with a left-footed curler in the 87th minute.
