Antonio Conte defends his time at Chelsea

Antonio Conte has defended his time at Chelsea by pointing out that he won the Premier League in his first season, unlike Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola.

The current Inter Milan boss led the Blues to the title in the 2016-17 campaign as they finished seven points clear of their nearest challengers Tottenham.

The 50-year-old said: “At Chelsea, I won the Premier League in the first year and the FA Cup in the second year.

“Klopp hasn’t won anything yet in England after four years and Guardiola didn’t win anything in his first year.”

Odion Ighalo arrives in England, reveals his feeling “to be in Manchester” United

Odion Ighalo described his move to Manchester United as a ‘dream come true’ as he arrived in the UK after signing for the club on loan until the end of the season.

The 30-year-old striker sealed a shock loan move to United from Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua in the closing moments of the transfer window on Friday.

The Sportsmail report that the move came as a surprise to many in the footballing world, but after arriving into the city’s airport the Nigerian opened up on his long-standing love for the club and excitement about what lies ahead.

“Its been crazy. Obviously I am happy to be in Manchester and this is a great opportunity for me”, Ighalo told Sky Sports News.

“And I’m grateful to God, my agent and the coach that gave me this opportunity to be here. I’m happy to be here to work hard with the team and finish very well this season.

“It’s a dream come true because since I was a kid I have always dreamed about Man United, but this is reality now.’

After arriving into Manchester Airport following a long flight from China, the striker said he would be resting on Sunday but is ready to get straight into action with the team starting on Monday.

“Today I will just chill because I have travelled from Shanghai to Manchester. Today (the plan) is just to rest and tomorrow we start to work”, Ighalo added.

It is not the first time the Nigerian has played in the Premier League after spending three successful years with Watford, scoring 17 goals and assisting six in the league before his move to China in 2017.

Lazio regret failed move for Olivier Giroud during January transfer window

Lazio boss Simone Inzaghi reveals he would have liked to sign Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud to help the club’s attack.

The Sere A club tried to buy Giroud in the final hours of the January transfer window after it became obvious Inter Milan were no longer interested in the striker.

“Unfortunately, with so many games in a row, it would’ve been helpful to have another option in attack during Correa’s injury,” the coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“We do have this young lad, Bobby Adekanye, who is trying to adapt to Italian football and doing it pretty well so far. A new signing would’ve been helpful, but Adekanye is a very interesting player from the Liverpool youth academy, he’s very professional, respectful and waits for his chance to play.

“If I really need to, I can also push Luis Alberto or Sergej Milinkovic-Savic up to act behind the striker.”

Atletico Madrid president blasts Chelsea target Edinson Cavani’s agent over failed move

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has criticized Edinson Cavani’s representatives following his failed move to the club on deadline day.

The Uruguayan international was heavily linked with a move to the Wanda Metropolitano before the January transfer window closed, however the deal fell apart at the last minute.

Los Rojiblancos were willing to offer around €10M for the former Napoli man, however media rumours have circulated in Spain regarding the role of his agent brother Walter Fernando Guglielmone.

“It is a shame the deal did not work out,” Cerezo told an interview with Marca as cited by Football Espana.

“But this can be the case with a situation involving agents and family members.”

“But, Atletico will not be messed about in these situations.”

However, despite Cerezo’s claims, Guglielmone has rejected the claims in an interview with Spanish radio station Cadena SER.

“Do you (Cerezo) believe that Edi did not play for a month to seal the deal, just for me to receive a commission?”

“If the mess we made with PSG was over money, he would have moved on to England, and Manchester United or Chelsea.”

“Edi wanted to move to Atletico, as it was his dream.”

“This has not happened because PSG would not lower their price for Edi, and Atletico could not cover that cost.”

“Atletico failed to close the deal with PSG.”
