Chelsea close in on another Ajax star after securing Hakim Ziyech

Chelsea are reportedly closing in on Ajax star Quincy Promes after the London club made sure his teammate Hakim Ziyech will be joining the Blues in the summer.

Reports in Russia claim Chelsea will go head to head with Liverpool for the Dutchman’s signature.

The report claims Ajax will demand at least €40 million for Promes’ services, should he wish to leave at the end of the season.

Promes is able to play on the wing or in attacking midfield and like Ziyech, lined up against the Blues in the Champions League this season – scoring in the 4-4 draw at Stamford Bridge.

The 28-year-old has 15 goals and five assists in all competitions this year and could command a similar fee to the £38million quoted for Ziyech.

Promes, who has been capped on 40 occasions by the Dutch national team, left Sevilla after one season last summer having struggled to settle at the Estadio Ramon.

Chelsea chief meets Serie A club President as Frank Lampard moves to re-sign red-hot Blues academy graduate

There are reports that Chelsea will hold talks on Wednesday to decide whether to exercise a buy-back clause for midfielder Jeremie Boga.

The Blues sold Boga to Serie A side Sassuolo for £3.5million in 2018, but they have the option to re-sign for £12.7m when the summer transfer window opens.

According to The Mirror, Chelsea chief Marina Granovskaia is set to meet Sassuolo president Giovanni Carnevali for talks on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old has impressed in Italy this season, scoring goals against Juventus, Inter Milan and Roma, while helping his side into a comfortable, mid-table position.

“Chelsea can redeem him in June,” Giovanni Carnevali admitted last month.

“We have a great relationship with the club and we already met them before Christmas – also for other business.

“We like to have what we have with Barcelona, to have a collaborative relationship.

“They can take him back but we can also re-sign him, everything is open.”

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is in the market for reinforcements at the end of the season after failing to add to his squad during the January window.

Boga is also wanted by Everton, Napoli and Monaco, but Lampard will be at the front of the queue due to the club’s buy-back clause.

Chelsea set to sign Ajax play-maker Hakim Ziyech in £38m deal

Reports in England and Holland claim Chelsea are in advanced talks to sign Hakim Ziyech from Ajax and a £38m deal is likely to be completed in days.

Ziyech was one of Frank Lampard’s top targets in January but Ajax insisted on keeping him until the summer.

Chelsea kept working on the deal after the window closed and we understand they are confident a deal will be announced soon and he will join at the end of the season.

Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf reported this afternoon that a £38m deal had been verbally agreed between the clubs.
