Hakim Ziyech signs five-year contract, says “I’m delighted and proud to have signed for such a huge club as Chelsea”

Ajax forward Hakim Ziyech has signed a five-year contract with Chelsea, but will remain at the Dutch club till the end of the season.

Ziyech is a left-footed attacker who is comfortable playing off the right flank and coming inside, as he has often done in recent years to such devastating effect for Ajax, or on the left to attack with width and deliver into the box.

According to statement on the Chelsea website: “Chelsea Football Club can today confirm that Hakim Ziyech has agreed the terms of a five-year contract.

The Moroccan international will remain at Ajax for the rest of this season before making the transfer to Stamford Bridge in the summer.”

It was announced earlier this month that a deal had been reached with Ajax for the 26-year-old’s signature, subject to the player agreeing personal terms.

On agreeing those terms, Ziyech said: “I am delighted and proud to have signed for such a huge club as Chelsea. I am looking forward to next season and hope we can achieve great things together.”

Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia added: ‘We are delighted Hakim will be joining us in the summer, having been a key target of the club’s in this last window. He has consistently been one of the most dangerous attacking players in Europe in recent years, which we saw first-hand in our two games against Ajax in the Champions League.

‘We wish Hakim and Ajax all the best for the rest of the season and look forward to welcoming him to Stamford Bridge in the summer.’

(WATCH) Video of Chelsea, Tottenham fans spoiling for fight after Stamford Bridge match surfaces online

A video has surfaced online of Chelsea and Tottenham fans “clashing” outside Stamford Bridge after yesterday’s London derby between the two sides.

Footage shows groups of the clubs’ supporters threatening to fight in the affluent area of England’s capital.

But much like Spurs’ performance on the pitch, the “fight”, if it can even be called that, failed to ever really get going, report the Sun.

The fans appear to dance around each other for a while, thankfully never actually even attempting to land a blow.

And a hilarious clip has now circulated online of the “clash” sped up… to the theme of Benny Hill.

The warring supporters fail to get within a metre of each other – and social media users were quick to mock the exchange.

One wrote: “No people were injured during the filming of this p*** poor attempt at football violence.” While another asked: “Does anyone even throw a punch?! Muppets!”

And another jokingly likened it to the hokey cokey: “You put your left arm left arm out and you shake it all about”.

Another user commented: “State of these clowns, man.”

“Wait another 3 hours and someone might even throw a punch,” another added.

Former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger heaps praise on Frank Lampard after defeating Tottenham, identifies his great asset as manager

Arsene Wenger has praised Chelsea boss Frank Lampard following Saturday’s 2-1 win against Tottenham.

Lampard has transformed Chelsea with his decision to put his trust in the club’s young players, and keeping the Stamford Bridge club in 4th position of the Preemier League.

Chelsea are billed to face Bayern Munich this week having qualified for the knock-out stage of the Champions League.

The Blues are still in the FA Cup, but were eliminated by Manchester United in the Carabao Cup.

Speaking to BeIN Sports, the Frenchman said: “I feel like he has done well overall,’ Wenger told BeIN Sports.

“When he had bad results he kept calm, kept the way of playing and I think you judge a manager when he starts with how he deals with disappointment.

“Overall, he kept his way and it’s quite encouraging. I like his style of play, I like watching it. He makes some tough decisions, which you may not always agree with, but he has a way to conduct and he sticks to it.

“He shows strong character and that’s what’s needed when you work at a big club.”

Real Madrid confirm nature of Eden Hazard injury, set to miss club’s crucial matches

Real Madrid star Eden Hazard will miss their crucial games against Manchester City and Barcelona next week due to injury.

The Belgian international, who has only just returned following a three month lay off with an ankle injury, came off the 67th minute in their 1-0 La Liga defeat at Levante this weekend.

Manager Zinedine Zidane confirmed he would undergo further tests to confirm the extent of the new ankle problem, and he has now been ruled out.

The club have since released an official statement confirming the former Chelsea man has suffered a minor fracture, after undergoing an examination by their internal medical department, report Football Espana.

The La Liga giants are yet to reveal an approximate date on his return, however early reports indicate that he could be sidelined for an estimated two months.

REVEALED: What could tempt Paul Pogba to stay at Old Trafford

Reports have emerged as to the reason Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba could be tempted to stay at Old Trafford, and that is if executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward decides to sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The World Cup winner has been angling for a move away from the club since last summer, but a switch to either Real Madrid or Juventus has failed to materialise.

Pogba is still currently keen on leaving the club, he may be tempted to change his mind if Solskjaer is replaced by another manager, according to Marca.

The France international would be willing to sign a new contract if a new manager were in charge.

His current deal is set to end at the end of next season, although it’s believed the Red Devils could trigger a one-year extension.
