Iker Casillas eyes Real Madrid return

Former Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas is convinced he will return to Santiago Bernabeu one day.

The Spaniard came through the ranks at the Bernabeu and spent 16 glittering seasons there before joining Porto in 2015.

Asked whether he would like to go back to Madrid, Casillas told DjMaRiio: “One day… why not? I consider it to my home, even though I have been away for five years.

“The connection is palpable. I was there for 25 years. Of course I’m convinced that one day I’ll return to the club.”

AS Roma step up move for Chelsea star, draft €3m-per-annum deal

There are reports in Italy that AS Roma are stepping up their interest in Chelsea winger Pedro and have drafted a deal worth €3m a year plus bonuses for the Spaniard.

The former Barcelona player looks set to leave Chelsea after the current campaign, as the 32-year-old has only appeared nine times in the Premier League under Frank Lampard.

His current deal expires in June and the Corriere dello Sport claims Roma have prepared an offer of €3m a year plus bonuses to tempt the former Spain international with a move to the Eternal City.

Pedro was capped 65 times by Spain, contributing 17 goals and won the World Cup and the European Championship during his international career.

The veteran from Tenerife picked up five La Liga titles, three Champions League and three Copa del Rey during his time at Barcelona, before moving to Chelsea, where he continued by adding both the Premier League and the FA Cup to his trophy cabinet.

Marcos Alonso rues exit of his “good friend” from Chelsea

Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso has identified his “good friend” Diego Costa as the player he wished had never left Stamford Bridge.

The Atletico Madrid striker left Chelsea in bizarre circumstances in 2017.

After a stellar season under Antonio Conte, in which he scored 20 Premier League goals, Costa was sent a blunt text message by the former Blues manager telling him he was no longer a part of his plans.

The message reportedly read: ‘Hi Diego, I hope you are well.

‘Thanks for the seasono [sic] we spent together. Good luck for the next year but you are not in my plan.’

Costa’s reply to Conte’s message was supposedly simply: ‘Ok’.

Despite the crucial role he played in guiding Chelsea to their most recent Premier League title, the Spain international returned to Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2017.

And Alonso admitted he would love Costa to still be a part of the current Blues squad now, report the Metro.

Asked to select any former Chelsea player and bring them back to the current squad in a Q&A on the club’s Instagram, Alonso replied: ‘The beast himself and my good friend, Diego Costa.’
