Lionel Messi’s cousin wants star to leave Barcelona

Lionel Messi’s cousin has expressed his desire for the Barcelona star to leave the Catalan giants, saying “I would love to see him play for another team.”

Massimo Moratti tried to take Messi to Inter when he was President and is currently leading the calls for him to join the Nerazzurri, and Maxi Biancucchi appeared to endorse the move, even if he ‘couldn’t see’ it happening.

“The truth is that this is something very personal, no-one else knows,” he told FootballNews24 as cited by Football Italia.

“Personally, I would love to see him play for another team, as many of his fans would like, to prove to those who claim that Messi is only good for Barcelona that they are wrong. The truth is that genes like his can play well anywhere.

“Honestly, I don’t see him in Italy. Any opinion of mine will arouse suspicion but, like I said before, the decision is his alone.

“My dream, if I have to be honest, is to see him wearing the Newell’s Old Boys shirt.”

Former Chelsea star reveals how Terry, Lampard, others were crying on the floor when Jose Mourinho was sacked in 2007

Steve Sidwell has revealed how Chelsea players including John Terry were left crying on the floor when Jose Mourinho announced he was leaving in 2007.

The Blues squad were stunned into silence when the Portuguese boss sat them down in the dressing room to reveal his unexpected departure in September.

Speaking to the Atheltic, Sidwell said: “I never felt that tension or thought he was in trouble.

“There were a few games before, you could see things in the press and it really bubbled up. But you didn’t feel it on the inside. The players were all united, no one was turning against him, he hadn’t lost the dressing room.

“The day he went, I was driving my wife to the airport and the news came on the radio. I just thought, “S**t, he’s gone. What’s going to happen?

“It was awkward when Jose came to say his goodbyes. You could have heard a pin drop. It felt like someone had died.

“When you see strong characters like Didier Drogba, Frank Lampard and John Terry either crying on the floor or certainly welling up… I got upset as well. It was really weird.”

Frank Lampard asks Chelsea to sign Real Madrid star

Reports in Spain claim Frank Lampard has asked Chelsea to make a move to sign unsettled Luka Jovic on loan.

According to Spanish daily Sport, Chelsea are desperate for a new striker to partner Tammy Abraham and Lampard has his sights set on the Real Madrid ace to bolster his squad.

Real Madrid are willing to give the Serbian another chance despite him fleeing Spain’s lockdown to return to his home country last month.

However that could change if they are successful in bringing a big-name striker to the club, meaning Jovic could be loaned out.

Arsenal are also said to be keen if Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leaves while Spurs could enter the market should Harry Kane depart.

Jorginho reveals his biggest regret in his football career

Chelsea star Joreginho has revealed his biggest regret in football, claiming that former Blues manager punished him at Napoli for making mistake.

The midfielder spoke to comedy group Gli Autogol in an Instagram live discussion, discussing his career at Napoli, Chelsea and the Italy squad.

Jorginho was asked for his biggest career regret and it harks back to Napoli.

The Italy international said, as cited by Football Italia, that : “In my first season at Napoli, I decided to take a vacation in Brazil and did nothing for a month. I just sat around, didn’t train and ate loads. I was totally out of shape when I returned to Naples and lost my place in the team, as Rafa Benitez no longer trusted me.

“He was absolutely right, there were teammates in vastly better shape than me at the time. Going back, I wouldn’t take that vacation.”

“I had important years at Napoli and it was so emotional when my mother and wife came to watch us win the Coppa Italia Final in Rome.

“The Europa League Final with Chelsea was another great memory.”

He moved to Stamford Bridge with coach Sarri, who had already worked with him at Napoli.

“Sarri is a magnificent coach, he’s extraordinary on a tactical level. He prepares in such detail that he knows the answer to any question you ask him. I struggled a little at the beginning, but now that I can speak English more fluently and communicate, it’s much easier.”
