John Terry opens up, says Chelsea stars wept when Jose Mourinho was sacked in 2007

Former Blues captain John Terry has talked of how Chelsea stars were left in bits when Jose Mourinho was sacked in 2007.

The Portuguese boss had five trophies in a stunning three-year spell with Roman Abramovich’s cash but was given his marching orders after a dip in form.

Terry told Sky Sports: “We were all in tears. It was one of those moments where there were whispers going around, we weren’t performing as well, we weren’t doing as well in the league.

“And then he came in and said: ‘That’s it, I’ve been sacked.’ He went around and gave everyone a hug and a cuddle.

“Full-grown men crying their eyes out. We were thinking: ‘Where do we go from here?’ We had someone like a father figure, guiding us.”

“We actually spoke to the board and said: ‘Listen, we want him to stay, can we not bring him back? It’s a rash decision, he’s the best we’ve worked with.’ Unfortunately they’d made their decision. But yes, there were full-grown men in absolute tears.”

Juventus confident of signing Chelsea star as transfer talks commence

Reports in Italy and England claim Juventus are confident of landing Chelsea star Emerson Palmieri as the Serie A giants have commmenced talks with the defender’s agent.

The Brazilian-born Italy international has fallen out of favour at Stamford Bridge and could be set for a return to Serie A this summer.

Maurizio Sarri could be the key to lure the left-back to Turin. The Old Lady boss actually wanted the defender to follow him to Turin last summer, but Chelsea would not want to listen to any discussion with regards to the player’s exit.

Italian journalist Nicolò Schira claims Emerson wants a return to Serie A and that Juventus are interested in the 25-year-old.

Schira claims the Old Lady are in touch with the player’s representatives.

The former Chelsea coach Sarri can play a decisive part in the operation and reunite with the former Roma man.

The Sun report that Chelsea are already in the market for another full-back, with Leicester ace Ben Chilwell high on his wish-list.

Tuttosport claim that Juventus will use this to their advantage in snaring Emerson by offering the Londoners a swap deal involving Alex Sandro.

Chelsea had quoted a £22million asking price for the Italy defender, but could be tempted into a transfer that involved one Brazilian defender for another.

Manchester United legend blasts Chelsea over Coutinho move

Gary Neville has slammed the Chelsea board for considering a move for Philippe Countinho in a period when their own players are uncertain of potential pay-cuts.

Recent reports claim Chelsea players have all agreed to take pay cut that will span four months as a result of COVID-19 crisis.

Captain Cesar Azpilicueta negotiated a 10 per cent wage cut on behalf of the Chelsea first-team squad.

But Neville is not happy about the development, complaining that it is wrong for the Stamford Bridge side to force pay cut down the throats of the players and at the same breathe planing to pay £75m to sign Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona.

Neville told Sky Sports: “It’s like a parallel universe.

“Cesar Azpilicueta has apparently been in talks with the Chelsea board over the past three weeks as they’re looking for a 10/15 per cent pay cut.

“For the Chelsea players to hear in the next breathe that the club are looking to buy Philippe Coutinho for £75m… it’s like, “what one is it?”

“If I was a player now I’d be looking at a wage deferral that potentially turns into a cut at a certain point in time.

“But if the club increase their budget or sign a player for £75m, you have to pay our money first. “I’d say ‘you can’t go and sign a player for £75m and then say you can’t pay us fully’.

“It’s just illogical, it doesn’t make sense.”

Chelsea ahead of Manchester City in race to sign Borussia Dortmund starlet

Chelsea are reportedly ahead of their rivals in the race to sign Bundesliga starlet Nnamdi Collins.

BILD claim the Blues are poised to beat Manchester City to the 16-year-old’s signature and could be ready to put together a tempting package to bring him to London.

Sport Witness say the teenager has made a name for himself at Borussia Dortmund and is believed to be almost as fast on the pitch as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Bundesliga giants hope to keep hold of the Germany Under-16 captain.

The club is planning to move him into their Under-19s team.
