Super Eagles boss Gernot Rohr tells Chelsea target Victor Osimhen club he should sign for

Chelsea target Victor Osimhen has been urged by Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr to leave Lille this summer.

The 18-goal 21-year-old has also been linked with Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham – and Rohr believes that playing at a higher level will help his Super Eagles chances.

He told Le Quotidien du Foot: “Victor Osimhen, I think, will have a very big opportunity to go from Lille, perhaps in the Premier League, to a very, very big club.

“If we have players playing at a very high level for their clubs, our level at the Super Eagles would grow also.

“(But) if he is signing for a very big club – you have seen the clubs ready to buy him now – he is not so sure to play because there’s big competition for the starting places in the team.

“(Although) it would be better to play in a better club than Lille.”

The Sun report the Spaniard has been linked with reuniting with former boss Maurizio Sarri at Juventus.

But former Inter Milan defender Antonio Paganin appears to have warned the Old Lady off signings the 33-year-old.

He told Tutto Mercato: “No [he is not the right profile] because he does not have the characteristics.

“He is already getting on in years. Juve must not think of the free [transfer] but of the right parameters for someone to look to the future.

“Juve need a different profile.

“If he is taken as a squad player, that is fine, but as an investment he is not worth the gamble.

“He comes from a period of Chelsea where he was too inconsistent and he was not the one we saw at Barcelona.”

RB Leipzig manager Julian Nagelsmann has admitted his struggles in keeping Chelsea target Timo Werner at the club.

The Germany international is reportedly angling to leave the Bundesliga for Premier League as Chelsea and Liverpool lead his chase.

He told reporters: “There is nothing we can do about it. He knows what he has in Leipzig and also what he has with me.

“I show him that — he gets many chances to develop himself. I don’t know if it will help him that much if I tell him every day.

“A player has to feel that he can get better. If he doesn’t feel that, it wouldn’t do any good if I kept on telling him to stay here.

“In the end, it is his life, his career, he can decide that. I can’t think of anything new to say to Timo.”

Benfica President reveals reason his club can’t sign David Luiz, confirms transfer talks with defender

Benfica president Luis Filipe Vieira has disclosed that his club cannot afford anywhere near the wages David Luiz earns at Arsenal.

The defender has been heavily linked with a return to the Portuguese club as his current contract at Emirates Stadium nears its expiry date.

And, the Brazilian has consisitently expressed his desire to return to Benfica after his stint at Arsenal.

“We spoke again [on Sunday],” Luis Filipe Vieira told BTV. “We have a father-son relationship.

“He was in a car with businessman, preparing to renew his contract with Arsenal. He is someone who loves Benfica, is a great professional [but] has to earn money. What he earns [with Arsena] is unthinkable for Benfica to pay.

“If David Luiz one day decides ‘I want to leave here’, is 35 years old and in perfect condition, of course we would take him. [But] eight million [in wages] would have to be one million.

“But, as a father, I would say no. I’d say: ‘oh, David, you’re not coming, don’t be crazy.'”

Jorginho’s agent explains why Chelsea star can’t join Juventus, denies swap deal report

Jorginho’s agent has revealed why it will be diffult for the Italy international to join Juventus, saying “it would be difficult for the Bianconeri to buy him today.”

Multiple Italian sources claim a swap deal is in the offing for Jorginho and Federico Bernardeschi valued at roughly €40m each.

“I only hear about these rumours from the newspapers, because nobody from Juventus has contacted me,” agent Joao Santos told TuttoJuve.com as cited by Football Italia.

“Maurizio Sarri appreciates him very much as a person and a player, they worked very well together, but that’s all there is to it right now. The player is focused only on Chelsea, he’s resumed training and is preparing for the Premier League restart.

“In my view, it would be difficult for the Bianconeri to buy him today, because the transfer market has changed with the pandemic and Jorginho has a contract with Chelsea until 2023. He is the vice-captain and considered an important player for the squad.

“I don’t just mean Juventus, but all the biggest European clubs would struggle to pay that much for one player right now.”

Jorginho’s agent was asked what would happen if the proposal from Juventus really did come in?

“If it should happen, I say that anyone who wants Jorginho has to talk to Chelsea and Marina (Granovskaia). Then we will evaluate together what to do. That would not be a problem.”

“I think a lot about our quality of life and we have a great setup here. I think a lot about my family now.”

“I’m certainly excited about the squad we’ve got, with the young players and if we can get a few additions for areas I feel we need,” Lampard told Chelsea’s official magazine.

“We didn’t bring in anyone in January, it didn’t work out to be right for us at the time, and last summer we couldn’t bring anyone in, so those windows are gone and we haven’t changed.

“So I am excited about the squad we’ve got, [but] if we can freshen up in the right areas we all know that [we will try].”
