Pep Guardiola confirms Leroy Sane plan to leave Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Leroy Sane has rejected the club’s new contract and he is expected to leave.

The winger is out of contract next summer and has strongly been linked with Bayern Munich over the last 12 months.

Guardiola says Sane will now either be sold this summer or leave on a free next year.

He said: “Leroy said he doesn’t want to extend the contract so it means he wants to leave and it’s going to happen this summer or at the end of the contract.

“The club talked to me and he’s been offered two or three times to extend his contract and he rejected so he wants to play for another club.”

Guardiola added: “If at the end of the season we get an agreement with both clubs he’s going to leave.

“If not then he’ll stay one more year and then leave at the end of the contract.”

Jurgen Klopp responds to Timo Werner’s move to Chelsea under Liverpool noses

Jurgen Klopp gave a prickly response when asked about Chelsea beating Liverpool to Timo Werner’s signature.

The Reds had been in hot pursuit of the Germany international, but was forced to pull out of the transfer race due to the finances involved.

Chelsea stole a march and completed the deal from under Liverpool, announcing the £50million transfer of Werner on their official website on Thursday.

Klopp’s Liverpool are two victories away from winning a very first Premier League title this season, and take on Merseyside rivals Everton on Sunday.

Ahead of the contest Klopp was asked for his thoughts on Chelsea beating Liverpool to Werner, and had a rather prickly response, report the Mirror.

“That’s not really funny,” said the Reds boss.

“We don’t really speak about transfers we potentially do. And now I would speak about the transfer of Chelsea?

“Funny! Why should I do that? I have nothing to say about that.

“Timo Werner is a really good football player and yesterday now I have heard it he has been announced for Chelsea next season. That’s it.”

HALF-TIME REPORT: Tottenham 1-0 Man United… Steven Bergwijn gives Spurs lead

Tottenham are ahead at the break through Steven Bergwijn’s fine solo goal against visiting Manchester United.

It’s a half in which the Jose Mourinho-tutored looked more dangerous derspite Bruno Fernandes’ late attempt from range.

Bergwijn scored on 27th minute of the match, picking up the ball just inside the Man Utd half, running at the defence and glided past Harry Maguire before slamming the ball past David De Gea.

It was an emphatic way to open the scoring.

Man Utd came straight back at Spurs after the goal as Fred’s dangerous free-kick was met by Marcus Rashford who, despite not getting the cleanest touch, did enough to have Hugo Lloris sprawling.

Bergwijn was causing all sorts of bother for the visitors. At the 31st minute, the Dutchman got away down the right and put in a cross straight on to Son Heung-min’s head. The Korean’s looping effort looks destined for the top corner but for David De Gea’s wonderful save. Spurs looking dangerous.

Chelsea handed transfer boost as Bundesliga club plan to sell Frank Lampard target

Bayern Munich are reportedly willing to sell David Alaba this summer if he does not sign a new deal.

Chelsea and Man United have previously been linked with the Austrian star but PSG are also keen.

Alaba, a self-professed Arsenal fan, is out of contract in 2021 and yet to agree an extension despite lengthy ongoing talks with Bayern.

His ability to play as a left-back, centre-back and midfielder makes him an incredible asset to any top European squad.

And the Telegraph claims Bayern will demand a hefty fee from any interested parties.

Chelsea and United might be able to afford Alaba but it is unlikely Arsenal will have enough cash for his services.
