(Watch Video) Neymar’s terrible miss (against Atalanta) as Mbappe, Icardi react

Neymar missed an absolute sitter within three minutes, as he ran through clear beyond defenders only to prod wide one-on-one with Sportiello.

The Brazilian was in more of a free role and given freedom to roam, but his pull back across the face of goal was not understood by Mauro Icardi.

Kylain Mbappe was equally shocked by Neymar’s miss.

Half-Time Report (Watch former Chelsea midfielder’s goal): Atalanta 1-0 PSG

Mario Pasalic’s left-foot curler has given Atalanta the half-time lead over PSG in the Champions League quarter-final, as Neymar missed a couple of sitters.

La Dea were in their first ever Champions League campaign, yet already in the quarter-finals against PSG, a side who spent more on one player than it cost to put the entire Atalanta team together. Neymar’s salary alone is more than the Bergamo side’s entire wage bill.

Keylor Navas performed a stunning one-handed save on Hans Hateboer’s header into the ground at the back post, on a chipped Gomez pass. On the resulting corner, Navas was again spectacular on Mattia Caldara, but the offside flag was up.

Neymar was in more of a free role and given freedom to roam, but his pull back across the face of goal was not understood by Mauro Icardi.

Atalanta broke the deadlock with Mario Pasalic, as Duvan Zapata’s pass was intercepted, but the ricochet fell kindly for the Croatian, who curled a left-foot finish from just inside the box into the far top corner, bending it around Navas.

Moments later, Neymar nutmegged Pasalic to cut inside and drill inches wide from the D, while Pablo Sarabia ran into acres of space down the left and rolled across, but again Icardi didn’t get there for the tap-in.

Hans Hateboer got away with an awful back-pass straight at Neymar, as the Brazilian hoofed it into the stands, again getting it all wrong when one-on-one.

Manchester United eyeing Chelsea prime target Kai Havertz

Manchester United could reportedly hijack Chelsea’s transfer bid to sign Kai Havertz if they cannot get a deal done for Jadon Sancho.

Borussia Dortmund said on Monday that Sancho would be staying in Germany with the Red Devils having so far failed to meet their £100m-plus asking price.

And while United have not given up hope of signing Sancho, if they continue to be frustrated in their pursuit of the England winger they could, according to the Manchester Evening News, turn instead to Chelsea target Havertz.

Havertz comes with the added bonus of being able to play on the wing or through the middle, but his massive price tag means he could only sign for United as a replacement for Sancho rather than as an accompaniment.

Chelsea flop Tiemoue Bakayoko breaks silence over AC Milan move

Chelsea flop Tiemoue Bakayoko has said the Rossoneri ‘are in my heart’ but was coy regarding a possible return to San Siro.

Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed that the Diavolo have entered talks with Chelsea to bring the French midfielder back.

Tuttomercatoweb spoke to the former Monaco man, who didn’t hide his love for the Diavolo.

“Everyone knows that Milan are in my heart and I have excellent memories,” he said as cited by Football Italia.

“At the moment I’m a Chelsea player, then in football we’ll have to wait and see.”

The former Monaco man spent 2018-19 on loan with the Diavolo and could be able to bring him back to Milan on a €3m loan with an option to buy the player for €35m.

The 25-year-old spent 2019-20 on loan at Monaco and played 20 Ligue 1 games before the interruption in March.

The former France international appeared 42 times across all competitions for the Rossoneri in his one season with the Serie A side.

Chelsea fans heap praise on Juan Mata for this action

Chelsea fans have taken to the social media to praise Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata the inclusion of his Blues jersey picture on his Uefa ID.

The former Chelsea star left Stamford Bridge for Old Trafford in 2014 when he was not playing regurlarly for Jose Mourinho’s team.

The Spaniard displayed so much professionalism after his impact in Manchester United’s Europa League quarter-final win over Copenhagen on Monday.

Mata replaced Mason Greenwood at the start of extra-time with the game goalless and quickly created a chance for Anthony Martial before playing the Frenchman in again to win the decisive penalty Bruno Fernandes converted.

Mata, 32, was restricted to eight Premier League starts this season and already lined up as many times in the Europa League, creating four goals and scoring two.

Arsenal offered former Chelsea striker

Juventus will reportedly offer Arsenal a choice of Gonzalo Higuain, Douglas Costa or Cristian Romero in exchange for Alexandre Lacazette.

The Gunners are hoping to reduce their wage bill this summer transfer window while creating funds for new signings.

The French striker could be one of the stars to depart with the Italian champions keen on the hitman.

And The Athletic claims new boss Andrea Pirlo is ready to offer Mikel Arteta his choice of three men to help facilitate a deal.

Striker Higuain, who turns 33 in December, is unlikely to interest the North London outfit, with the combination of his age and high wages making him an unattractive proposition.

It has also been claimed winger Costa looks unlikely to be heading to Arsenal.

Arsenal receive transfer blow over Dani Ceballos

Real Madrid are considering bringing Dani Ceballos back to the club this summer in a blow to Arsenal’s summer transfer plans.

Arsenal had been hoping to agree another loan for the midfielder but Standard Sport understands Madrid are weighing up their options after last Friday’s Champions League elimination at the hands of Manchester City.

Ceballos did not feature heavily during Zinedine Zidane’s first spell in charge but could be brought back as the Frenchman looks to revitalise an ageing midfield with the ongoing financial impact of Covid-19 ruling out big summer signings.

The Spain international has said previously of his desire to triumph at Real, but is keen for regular playing time as he looks to earn a place at next summer’s European Championships and also the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Zidane is expected to have the final say in pre-season before a decision is made on the player’s future, but senior figures at the Spanish side remain confident he has the ability to be a success at Real.

Manchester United starlet set to join Werder Bremen as Solskjaer approves move

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has given the thumbs up for youngster Tahith Chong to join Werder Bremen on a season-long loan.

The 20-year-old asked the Manchester United boss to leave the club next season after being limited to just three Premier League substitute appearances.

Chong was in the squad to face Copenhagen in their Europa League quarter-final win but remained an unused substitute.

And after learning of Werder Bremen’s interest, he has his heart set on a temporary switch to the Bundesliga club.

Chong’s agent Erkan Alkan told Bild: “Mr Solskjaer kept his promise from March and told Tahith that he can leave the club.

“The boy really wants to go to Werder.

“He wants to be part of the preparation as soon as possible so that he can quickly find his way around.”

REVEALED: Top ten clubs with biggest wage bills in Europe… But an important Premier League club is missing

The biggest wage bills in Europe have been revealed – with FOUR Premier League teams in the top ten.

But Chelsea is missing.

With the domestic 2019-20 season now done and dusted, the annual wage bills – based on average spent per player per season – have been revealed by SafeBettingSites.

But which teams make the cut and are they getting bang for buck?

Barcelona: No. 1

2018-19 wage bill (per player): £9.37m

Top-earner: Lionel Messi – £1.15m a week

Their bill, £9.37m per player per season, is extraordinary – but with Messi accounting for over ten per cent of that, it’s hard to argue too much.

Barca have made some big-money mistakes in the transfer market and have overpaid a few of those flops, so ultimately it’s impossible say they’re getting good value for money.

Arsenal: No. 10

2018-19 wage bill (per player): £4.78m

Top-earner: Mesut Ozil – £350,000 a week

Completing the top ten is Arsenal, who spend a monster £4.78m a year per player on wages.

But having finished eighth in the Premier League and closer to 20th-placed Norwich than champions Liverpool, that certainly isn’t money well spent.

Ozil raking in £350,000 a week to rot on the bench is a sore spot amongst Gooners.

West Ham respond to reported Chelsea £50m bid for Declan Rice

West Ham have dismissed reports that they have received a £50m bid from Chelsea for Declan Rice.

Further to those earlier reports that confirmed Chelsea are yet to make a bid for Rice, West Ham have responded by saying they would not consider a £50m bid.

According to Sky Sports, the Hammers would “laugh off” any suggestion a bid of such value would be enough to lure the West Ham captain anyway from the London Stadium.

Rice is not for sale, any £50m bid would be laughed off and West Ham hope the midfielder stays at the club for many years.

The England international has a long-term contract which runs out in 2024 and West Ham have the option of extending it by another year.

Rice will return to the club on Monday for preseason training with the rest of his teammates.
