Chelsea youngster undergoes La Liga club’s medical

Granada are reportedly set to complete the loan signing of Chelsea winger Robert Kenedy on a season-long loan deal.

A report in Ideal de Granada, via Football Espana, outlines how the Brazilian is already in the Andalusian city to complete his medical tests before joining the club for the campaign.

The winger spent last season on loan at La Liga club Getafe, where he made 27 first-team appearances but only started three league matches and was largely a peripheral figure throughout the campaign.

Kenedy came through the youth system at Brazilian club Fluminense before joining Chelsea in a deal worth €8.6m in the summer of 2015.

He has subsequently had loan spells at both Watford and Newcastle and has become one of the West London club’s multiple players who has continually been loaned out elsewhere.

He is expected to be involved for Granada in Friday night’s La Liga opener against Athletic Club Bilbao.

Frank Lampard reveals how his wife is helping him to take decision over managing Chelsea players

Frank Lampard isn’t afraid to ask the people around him for advice when it comes to managing his players – and that includes his wife, Christine.

The Chelsea gaffer told The High Performance podcast that chatting to the missus about his team can sometimes help guide his actions – but he insists she’s not the one choosing the line-up.

He said: “I do throw a lot of things off Christine, and she’s not picking like what fullback we’re going to play that weekend.

“But at the same time, if I have certain issues which are life issues, and actually football issues sometimes, I can definitely go home.

“It’s great sometimes. I go, ‘Christine, what do you think about this problem, I’ve got a player here and he didn’t turn up for training yesterday. But we still probably need him on the weekend, what do you think?’”

“And she goes: ‘does he have a girlfriend, a wife? Is there a problem? Have you spoken to them? Maybe you should speak to them.’”

“And I’m like, ‘yeah’. So she’s not my life coach as such, but I’m very fortunate to have someone to bounce things off of at home.”

Germany boss Joachim Low reveals why he didn’t use Havertz against Spain, says “it’s right moment for” him to join Chelsea

Germany national team head coach Joachim Low believes it is the ‘right time’ for Kai Havertz to sign for Chelsea.

The deal had been on the cards for several weeks, and the Blues announced the 21-year-old as their new player on Friday.

Havertz has been an exceptional player for Bayer Leverkusen for the past couple of seasons, featuring in more than 150 games for his former side.

To complete the £62million deal, Havertz was left on the bench for Germany’s 1-1 draw with Spain, before being allowed to leave their camp in Stuttgart to head to London.

Havertz has been at Chelsea’s training ground doing some individual training ahead of meeting up with his new team-mates in the coming week.

And his national team head coach believes that it is the right moment for one of his star players to head to the Premier League.

“We were in two minds about Kai,” Low admitted.

“On the one hand, his ability on the ball would’ve helped us against Spain, but the risk of an injury before a transfer of this magnitude is too great.

“The bad thing about the transfer is that the Bundesliga has lost a top player. But by moving abroad, it’ll help Kai’s development. You mature abroad.

“Kai was sure that he wanted the move and he’s mentally prepared for it. Chelsea is a good club with lots of young players.

“I don’t think that this has come a year or two too soon for Kai; it’s the right time for him.”

Revealed: How Man United boss traveled to Germany for talks with Timo Werner before Chelsea move

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer held talks with Timo Werner – before the striker joined Chelsea.

Werner, 24, was subject to interest from a host of Premier League clubs – including champions Liverpool – who wanted to meet his £47.5million release clause.

According to Bild, United boss Solskjaer travelled to Berlin to try and convince the forward to join Old Trafford.

City manager Pep Guardiola is also said to have contacted Werner personally in an attempt to prize him over to the blue half of Manchester.

Ultimately Werner signed for Chelsea in June after Liverpool opted against making a move for the German.

The player admitted Chelsea boss Frank Lampard played a major role in his choice to pen a five-year deal at Stamford Bridge.

Luis Suarez trains alone as Barcelona striker closes in on Juventus move

Luis Suarez has been asked to train on his own by new Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman as he prepares to leave the La Liga club for Juventus.

Earlier in the week, Sky in Italy reported that Juventus are not worried that Luis Suarez’s passport status might stop him completing a move to the Serie A club.

Suarez would then need to become an Italian citizen to fit in with Serie A squad regulations – his wife Sofia Balbi is already an Italian citizen.

The deal is further complicated by the fact Juventus recently filled their last two overseas slots by signing American Weston McKennie from Schalke and Brazil international Arthur from Barcelona.

Juventus could, according to Sky in Italy, offer Barcelona team or individual-related bonuses to make the deal smoother, with the clubs enjoying a good relationship.
