(Watch Highlights) Victor Osimhen’s header hands Napoli away win (Match Report)

Victor Osimhen’s header on a Hirving Lozano cross proved enough for Napoli, as Bologna woke up too late to get back into the game.

Napoli had a couple of early chances, Dries Mertens knocking down a Hirving Lozano cross for Insigne, then on the resulting corner Insigne’s ball flashed across the face of goal with nobody getting the final touch.

Mertens curled wide of the far post, but Kalidou Koulibaly had to time his sliding tackle on Riccardo Orsolini absolutely perfectly or it would’ve been a penalty.

Chucky Lozano was in fine form and he created the goal with a floated cross to the back post for totally unmarked Osimhen’s cushioned header. It was the 40th consecutive Serie A game without a clean sheet for Bologna.

Mertens and Insigne fired over the bar, while Orsolini’s excellent run fell apart when he came up against Koulibaly in the box.

Napoli thought they had doubled their lead after the restart when Osimhen attempted an overhead kick on a corner and Koulibaly was quickest to react on the rebound. However, after an on-field VAR review, it was confirmed the ball had struck Osimhen on the hand, meaning it had to be disallowed.

Rodrigo Palacio’s volley was charged down by Giovanni Di Lorenzo, who had his hands clamped behind his back to ensure there was no handball.

Insigne’s free kick whistled over, but Bologna had a late triple chance on 87 minutes. There was bedlam, as in the same move David Ospina parried from Orsolini, Palacio’s follow-up was charged down by Elseid Hysaj, then a Mattias Svanberg effort turned into an assist that Orsolini redirected wide at the back post.

Bologna woke up too late, but continued to frighten the Partenopei, Ospina beating away a Palacio angled drive.

Aston Villa stun Arsenal at Emirates as Ollie Watkins scores brace (Match Report)

An Ollie Watkins brace in the second half and Bukayo Saka’s first-half own goal handed the three points to Aston Villa who are making their best start in 22 seasons.

It came against a Gunners side who boasted the meanest defence in the Premier League heading into the encounter as Villa, who also saw John McGinn’s early strike ruled out by VAR, secured a third successive away win in the top flight for the first time since 2010.

The triumph sees Dean Smith’s side move on to 15 points from their opening seven matches and ensures they head into the international in high spirits.

Alexandre Lacazette headed over a good opportunity in the 41st from Kieran Tierney’s cross but it was Smith’s side who led at the break.

The hard-working Trezeguet was denied by Leno at his near post three minutes after the restart, before captain Jack Grealish was thwarted by the Germany international shortly afterwards.

Rob Holding pulled wide for the Gunners just after the hour mark while substitute Nicolas Pepe sent a shot off target.

But the visitors wrapped up all three points courtesy of two quickfire goals from Watkins.

Douglas Luiz, making his 50th Villa appearance, found Barkley with a cross-field pass and his superb volley was headed home by Watkins at close range in the 72nd minute.

Grealish saw his strike cleared off the line by Dani Ceballos before the Villans did bag a third.

Emi Martinez, returning to Arsenal for the first time since his summer switch, set up the counter-attack as his throw found Grealish and he broke down the left before setting up Watkins to fire home and seal a memorable night.

Mason Mount talks about Hakim Ziyech’s “quality left foot”

Mason Mount has hailed his Chelsea team-mate Hakim Ziyech over his dazzling display against Sheffield United on Saturday.

He said: “He’s a brilliant player. He knows what he can bring to the team with his quality left foot.

“The gaffer always speaks about having the competition to keep our standards high, and Hakim is a world-class player. We want players of that calibre coming in.

“To have 14 different scorers has been brilliant. We need that threat from set-pieces, which I don’t think we really had last season.

“This season we’ve definitely worked on that and it’s been working and to have that many scorers gives us a different dimension to our game and teams definitely fear us more.

“There are some great left-footed players in the Premier League including Gareth Bale, one of the best players in world football, and we always think of the sweet left foot as a culture.

“Hakim has brought a different element to our game, but I don’t just want to lean on that because his work ethic off the ball makes him a very complete player.

“He gives us an extra edge and a different threat in terms of coming on to his left foot off the right side.

“He exudes confidence, how much he wants the ball, and he wants to be the important player who makes the assist, and that has been a big plus.”
