Olivier Giroud set to make Chelsea U-turn

Reports in England claim Olivier Giroud is set to review his future at Chelsea and could push for a January move away to help nail-down his spot in the France squad for the delayed European Championship.

The former Arsenal striker, 34, was linked with a move to Inter Milan in the summer but stayed in West London after a strong end to 2019-20.

Football.london claim Giroud may force a move away from Chelsea in order to ensure he remains part of Deschamps’ plans for the Euros in 2021.

This time last year, the striker was linked with a January move away yet again.

Having failed to find a new home, Giroud stayed at Stamford Bridge and ended up playing a key role in the Blues securing a Champions League place for this season.

The France ace scored seven goals after lockdown – six in the Premier League and one in the FA Cup win over Manchester United.

Jose Mourinho names seven Chelsea legends in his best ever XI, leaves out Ibrahimovic, Sergio Ramos, others

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho has named his all-time XI of players he has managed – and seven of the stars played for the 57-year-old during his two spells in charge of Chelsea.

The Portuguese, however, did not include any Manchester United player in his team.

The Special One was appointed as United boss in May 2016, but despite winning the Europa League and Carabao Cup in his first season, fans never really took to him.

Mourinho was sacked in December 2018, his time at the club blighted by rumours of fall-outs with star man Paul Pogba.

Meanwhile, John Terry, Ricardo Carvalho and William Gallas were key components of the meanest defence in Premier League history during both of these triumphs, with Petr Cech excelling after his move from Rennes as Mourinho’s men conceded just 15 league goals in 2004-05.

Javier Zanetti is the other member of the back four, having played under Mourinho as Inter Milan won two straight Serie A titles and their third-ever Champions League title after beating Bayern Munich 2-0 in the final thanks to a double by Diego Milito.

The incredibly dependable Claude Makelele forms the base of Mourinho’s midfield, with Frank Lampard playing ahead of the Frenchman alongside Mesut Ozil, who was a key part of the Real Madrid side that reached a record 100 points (equalled by Barcelona the following year) to win La Liga in 2012, scoring a monumental 121 goals in the process, a record that still stands.

Ozil contributed a ridiculous 54 league assists between 2010 and 2013, and best season figure of 19 in the first two of those three seasons has only been bettered by Xavi (20 assists in 2008-09) and Lionel Messi (21 assists in 2019-20).

Arsenal legend explains why Chelsea are serious premier League title challengers

Ian Wright insists Chelsea should be considered title challengers following their 4-1 victory over Sheffield United on Saturday.

Arsenal icon Wright has been impressed with Chelsea’s recruitment in the summer and has backed them to challenge for the Premier League crown.

When asked if Frank Lampard’s side could be a threat to Liverpool or Man City, Wright told Premier League Productions: “Yes, with what they’ve got.

“But like we said there’s a little bit of fitting the pieces together and I think the goalkeeper [Edouard Mendy], Thiago Silva, [Hakim] Ziyech coming in, [Kai] Havertz coming in, Werner coming in – I think those players and the quality and the standard of those players yes they should be [challenging for the title].

“But then now it is about fitting the pieces together. For me, playing Kante where he does is going to free up another vital cog in respect of the offensive side of things, because he was everywhere.

“So once that’s all knitted together and they start to string a couple of wins together which they seem like they’re doing now.

“More clean sheets I’m sure will come because they’ll be very disappointed with that goal [against Sheffield United] because it was a poor goal to concede.

“But they’ve got everything in the armoury to actually challenge, without a doubt.”

Hudson-Odoi, Tomori tell Chelsea why they breached Covid-19 lockdown rules

Chelsea duo Callum Hudson-Odoi and Fikayo Tomori have explained to the club that they misunderstood London’s Tier 2 lockdown rules last month when dined out together.

Footage was leaked to the Daily Star of the pair at a restaurant when the lockdown rules stated that separate households could only meet outside.

They both claim that because they’re part of an elite sporting bubble, they could still socialise together.

The players are not expected to face disciplinary action but are likely to be warned to ensure they are clear on rules.

The Mail report that Chelsea said the players will be reminded of their responsibilities.

Hudson-Odoi visited a swanky west London restaurant with Tomori as the pair enjoyed a night out together.

In the video Hudson-Odoi sent to friends on social media, Tomori is seen dancing in his seat with loud music blaring in the background and the pair were reportedly joined by at least one other person at the Mayfair venue.

The England winger sings along in the clip, tagging Tomori in the post which he captioned: ‘my guy’.

Chelsea target’s father confirms son’s move to Stamford Bridge is being blocked by agent

Chelsea are reportedly being blocked in their attempt to sign Anel Ahmedhodzic from Malmo his father claims.

Ahmedhodzic, 21, has caught the eye of the Blues who have been monitoring his performances along with a host of other European clubs.

It is said that PSV Eindhoven and AC Milan are also interested in him and have sent scouts to watch him play. His father Mirsad believes Chelsea are willing to prise his son away from the Swedish club for a fee of £6.9million.

But he thinks the deal is being blocked by his son’s representative Markus Rosenberg who refuses to listen to their offers.

He said: “He’s [Rosenberg] not doing his job. He has told Marina [Granovskaia] at Chelsea that Anel is not going there. He [Anel] wants to go abroad after the season finishes.”

Mirsad also believes Italian agent Fredrico Pastorelli has been in talks with several clubs across Europe to make a deal happen for Ahmedhodzic.

He continued: “Markus hasn’t arranged this, he doesn’t have the contacts. I have tried to inform Markus that Pastorello wants to cooperate with him.”
