First Half Report: (Watch superb goal on Video) Cristiano Ronaldo on fire for Juventus, scores quick double

Federico Bernardeschi had a goal ruled offside before Cristiano Ronaldo bagged a quick brace to give Juventus the 2-0 lead over Cagliari.

Federico Bernardeschi fired in at the end of a wonderful team move on 12 minutes, but it was disallowed because Alvaro Morata was offside on the assist.

Cuadrado laid off a ball for Dejan Kulusevski to fire inches wide of the far post, while Bernardeschi’s first-time strike was straight at Alessio Cragno.

Juventus finally made the pressure count, as Ronaldo cut inside from the left and fired a right-foot rocket into the far bottom corner. The assist was provided by Morata.

Moments later, it was 2-0 for the Bianconeri and Ronaldo was on target yet again. A corner was flicked on by Merih Demiral to the back post, it was slightly behind Ronaldo, so he improvised by leaning his leg back to flick it in from seven yards.

Juventus: Buffon; Cuadrado, Demiral, De Ligt, Danilo; Kulusevski, Arthur, Rabiot, Bernardeschi; Morata, Ronaldo

Cagliari: Cragno; Pisacane, Klavan, Walukiewicz; Zappa, Marin, Rog, Tripaldelli; Joao Pedro, Ounas; Simeone

Tammy Abraham reveals key factor for Chelsea’s win over Newcastle

Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham has highlighted the determination of his teammates to win at St. James’ Park as the key for defeated uneasy foes Newcastle, especially after “the international break”.

The Blues recorded two goals in the match, one an own goal in the first half and the second goal in the second half through Abraham after a blistering run by Timo Werner.

The striker said: “Fantastic result, we dug deep. Coming here is never a easy place to come and get three points but we did that today. It was 1-0 for a very long time.

“They created a few chances and so did we but we defended well and got the second goal.”

“We didn’t let the international break distract us. We had to come out all guns blazing and that’s what we did today and like I said, it was a massive three points.

“Them games are tricky, always tricky. When you’re 1-0 up and you can’t get that second goal and they’ve created a few chances, it’s very easy to drop your head and lose confidence but we didn’t do that.

“We knew we’re quick on counter attacks so I got myself forward and I was tired but I had to stay in control and pass it through the keeper which it what I done and killed the game off thankfully.”

Newcastle boss identifies reasons Chelsea defeated his club

Steve Bruce has explained why his club lost to Chelsea at St. James Park on Saturday afternoon.

The visitors swept Newcastle aside after the Premier League returned following an international break.

Federico Fernandez’s unfortunate own goal put the Blues ahead after just 10 minutes before Tammy Abraham doubled the visitors’ lead just after the hour mark.

Steve Bruce said after the match that: “We got off to an awful start. To concede after 10 minutes makes it even more difficult than it already is.”

“First half in particular, maybe we were a bit too passive. Second half was much better but obviously you then open yourself up a bit and you chase the game higher up the pitch and unfortunately they pick you off.”

“The best spell in the game is where we unfortunately conceded the second one.”

“In terms of possession, they had possession and they had another big chance but we had one or two opportunities but didn’t quite take them.”

“They’re a very, very good side and as I said, when you go higher up the pitch against them, they can expose you at the other end.”

“It was a difficult afternoon and at the end of the day, Chelsea are a very, very good team.”

Frank Lampard explains how Chelsea conquered “a very organized” Newcastle

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has explained how his players were able to beat a usually difficult Newcastle at St. James’ Park, saying that “it was great to get the early goal because it changes the whole aspects of it.”

Chelsea moved to the top of the Premier League table, if only for a few hours, after a solid win at Newcastle United, their fifth straight victory in all competitions.

Federico Fernandez’s own goal set the Blues on their way, the Argentine defender poking the ball over his own line while under pressure from Ben Chilwell.

Chelsea oozed quality, Newcastle keeper Karl Darlow producing excellent saves to deny the excellent Timo Werner as well as a close-range header by Tammy Abraham.

But Abraham made sure of the points with a smart finish following Werner’s pass after Newcastle had threatened through Isaac Hayden and Joelinton.

Frank Lampard said: “We played well. It’s not an easy game coming here against a very organised team and it was great to get the early goal because it changes the whole aspects of it.”

“The second one was then so important and obviously we had chances to get that earlier and even after that we could of maybe scored again but you know, we can’t have it all our own way.”

“I thought the first 20 minutes we were great because we had control and we had penetration. We had people running in behind, we were getting to the side and making crosses but I think that sort of danger or control becomes comfort which is dangerous.”

” I understand the players can sometimes become comfortable but that is lessons where we can get better.”

“You need to stay humble when you go top and know that it’s a long race.”
