(Watch Goal on Video) Sevilla 0-2 Chelsea… Giroud at the double

The Frenchman is certainly giving Frank Lampard something to think about for his Premier League starting XI.

Kovacic plays the Frenchman into the box with a flicked pass and Giroud does the rest. The striker faints to shoot, makes space and produces a classy dink over Alfonso Pastor. All his experience and raw quality in evidence there.

Chelsea handed boost as Sevilla dealt double injury blow

Sevilla have been dealt a double injury blow ahead of their Champions League contest against Chelsea today in Spain.

This week, Julen Lopetegui revealed that Lucas Ocampos and Luuk de Jong are unlikely to play due to injury, as reported by the Daily Mail .

The pair were crucial to Sevilla’s success last season, which included a Europa League title, with the former scoring 17 goals from the wing.

Sevilla and Chelsea will compete to finish top in Group E. Both have qualified for the knockout stages already, but having drawn the first outing 0-0, the winner will secure the group victory as the first tie-breaker is the head-to-head record.

Ocampos and de Jong’s absence will aid Chelsea’s quest to qualify as group winners for the first time since the 2015/16 season.

Barcelona eye Chelsea defence ace

Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger and Arsenal’s Shkodran Mustafi have been rated shock Barcelona targets for January.

The Germany international was on the verge of leaving Chelsea in the summer after the west London club signed Brazil legend Thiago Silva on free transfer.

His situation at the club has not improved because of limited playing time.

Under-fire Barca boss Ronald Koeman wants defensive reinforcements after a poor start to his reign and season.

And Mundo Deportivo, suggest Manchester City’s Eric Garcia, 19, has been joined by fellow centre-backs Rudiger and Mustafi as January options.

Former Liverpool star says Klopp made right decision signing free-scoring Diogo Jota instead of Timo Werner

John Barnes claims Liverpool made the right call in signing Diogo Jota instead of Timo Werner this summer.

Jota has scored nine goals so far, but the Premier League champions were heavily linked with a move for Werner. The German ended up joining Chelsea after they agreed to pay £50m – and Barnes says he may not have been satisfied with his game time at Anfield given their wealth of attacking options.

“Timo Werner is doing well and I’m sure he could have fit into what Liverpool wanted, but Liverpool want a player that wants to come to them,” he told BonusCodeBets.

“From the financial point of view, they would have paid the £48m that Chelsea have for Werner without a problem, but maybe Werner wanted to guarantee that he was going to play in every single week, which he does at Chelsea and he may not necessarily have got that at Liverpool, just as Jota hasn’t.

“From Werner’s point of view, he would not have been guaranteed a starting place at Liverpool. Perhaps it’s a decision he made and one Liverpool made in terms of wanting the player that would be happy to be a part of a squad as Jota is.”
