Sheffield United fans heap praise on Chelsea loanee Ethan Ampadu for his performance against Newcastle

Chelsea loanee Ethan Ampadu played 90 minuets on Tuesday night for Sheffield United – and some Blades fans on Twitter were delighted with the performance of the 20-year-old.

The young Welshman was loaned out from Stamford Bridge in the summer, as he joined Premier League rivals Sheffield United for the entire season.

He’s been a part of a team with zero wins in their opening 17 league games, but they broke that streak last night.

Sheffield United secured a 1-0 home win over Newcastle United, with Billy Sharp converting a second-half penalty.

One man that caught the eye of Sheffield United supporters was Ampadu, who has not been a favourite so far this season at Bramall Lane.

He’s a versatile star that has struggled at times in a defensive midfield position, but he looked far more comfortable dropping back as a centre-half.

The Chelsea loanee delivered a composed display against Newcastle at centre-back and was named man of the match on Sheffield United’s official Twitter account, report The Chelsea Chronicle.

Aged 20, the Wales international still has a lot of improvements to make in his game when it comes to decision-making, but he’s shown enough in his brief career to highlight his talent.

The Chelsea man now needs to find consistency in his game, especially if he has any realistic aim of breaking into Frank Lampard’s squad next season when he returns from his loan.

Chelsea ahead in race to sign ex-Barcelona winger

Chelsea are at the head of the pack chasing the signing of former Barcelona winger Raul Moro.

Moro is currently at Lazio and local outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi, who are close to the Serie A side, report the Blues have shown an interest in the winger.

The 18-year-old is a product of the Barcelona academy, although he didn’t make an appearance for the La Liga giants.

He has also struggled to break into Lazio’s senior side and is yet to make an appearance in Serie A this season.

Napoli provide update on Victor Osimhen on coronavirus infection

Napoli have confirmed Victor Osimhen is still positive for coronavirus and will repeat the test later this week.

The Nigerian striker will not return to the pitch just yet, as he carried out another molecular test today.

Napoli confirmed that the player tested positive and will repeat the test soon.

“The molecular nasal pharyngeal swab carried out this morning on the footballer Victor Osimhen gave a positive result for COVID-19,” the club wrote in a statement as cited by Football Italia.

“The player will repeat the test this week.”

Osimhen has only played six times this season, as he injured his shoulder during international duty with Nigeria and then tested positive for COVID-19 after the Christmas holiday.

The former LOSC Lille striker scored in his last appearance for the Partenopei, against Bologna in a 1-0 win on November 8.
