Chelsea defender Thiago Silva faces FA punishment

Thiago Silva could face an FA rap after appearing to break coronavirus protocols.

The Sun report that the Brazilian defender, 36, threw his shirt to a tradesman working on the new stand at Craven Cottage after Chelsea’s 1-0 win over Fulham.

Players have been told they are not allowed to swap or give away their shirts under the Premier League’s strict new protocols.

Last week Prem chief executive Richard Masters wrote to clubs to “stress the critical importance of adhering” to the strengthened rules.

Several matches have been postponed in recent weeks with the new variant spreading among Premier League sides.

Aston Villa’s clash with Everton was the latest to be called off with an ongoing outbreak at the club.

The Premier League are now expected to look at Silva’s actions and determine whether it is worthy of any further action.

The new guidelines also claim that “handshakes, high fives and hugs must be avoided.”

Silva was outstanding in Chelsea’s crucial victory – blocking a shot an an open goal – as Mason Mount’s strike eased the pressure on boss Frank Lampard.

Chelsea loanee involved in training ground bust-up

Crystal Palace pair Luka Milivojevic and Michy Batshuayi had to be separated by teammates following a training ground bust-up in the build up to the Eagles’ battling draw at Arsenal.

Captain Milivojevic took issue with the Belgian striker’s attitude during a training drill in which coaches had instructed players to pass the ball to one another with increasing power to test their first touch.

According to the Evening Standard, the Serbian midfielder became frustrated with just how hard Batshuayi was passing the ball and tempers boiled over leading to the two having to be separated by teammates at the club’s Copers Cope training base.

Milivojevic played 89 minutes as Roy Hodgson’s side claimed a well earned point at The Emirates on Thursday night with Batshuayi an unused sub.

It is understood Palace won’t be handing out disciplinary punishments to either player as tempers flaring on the training ground is a somewhat regular occurrence at football clubs.

Batshuayi has struggled since his loan move from Chelsea at the start of the season. Having done so well during his first six month spell at the club, the 27-year-old is yet to score in 10 Premier League appearances and hasn’t started a league game since November.

West Ham boss David Moyes reacts to Chelsea’s pursuit of Declan Rice

David Moyes has dismissed the speculation surrounding Chelsea target Declan Rice.

The England international has been linked with move to Chelsea, and Manchester United are equally reportedly keen to sign the midfielder.

But Rice himself has ruled out any move to the Old Trafford despite the interest of the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer side.

But when Moyes was asked about interest in Declan Rice, he said: “We have had no contact regarding Declan. He is doing great for us. He is a big leader. He is turning out to be a really good player and also a really good boy as well to have around the club.”

He added: “We would like to strengthen if we can but the most important thing is we win the games. If we think there are players out there who can help us get wins then we are interested. Who knows.”
