Chelsea move for Euro 2020 hero rebuffed by Juventus

Chelsea have reportedly been rebuffed by Juventus in their quest to sign winger Federico Chiesa for £85million.

The 23-year-old was one of the players of the tournament at Euro 2020 as he helped Italy win their first European Championship since 1968.

Chiesa is currently halfway through a two-year loan spell in Turin from Fiorentina, with the Old Lady having an obligation to permanently sign him next year.

That deal could be worth as much as £43million, and it has been claimed they have rejected an offer from the Blues almost twice as much as that.

According to Bild journalist Christian Falk, the West Londoners have identified the player as a key target with Thomas Tuchel looking to strengthen his side.

(Watch Video) Giorgio Chiellini says he laid curse on Bukayo Saka before missing his decisive penalty at Euro 2020 final

Azzurri captain Giorgio Chiellini has claimed he put a curse on Bukayo Saka before the teenage England star missed the decisive penalty that saw Italy win Euro 2020.

Saka was left heartbroken after seeing his spot-kick palmed out by Gianluigi Donnarumma, ending the Three Lions’ stellar campaign in the cruellest of fashions at Wembley.

But Italy defender Chiellini, who is no stranger to using every trick in the book during games, has now revealed that he uttered the word ‘Kiricocho’ just as Saka stepped up to take his penalty.

Slow motion footage of the Italian players during the moment Donnarumma clinched them the trophy shows Chiellini, 36, mouthing the word, before racing away to celebrate.

‘Kiricocho’ is a term that originates from South America, and is believed to translate into English as ‘curse you’ or ‘jinx’.

Chiellini was quizzed on whether or not he used the curse by ESPN Argentina, and the veteran promptly owned up with a wry smile on his face.

‘Ciao, Cristiano,’ he told a reporter. ‘I confirm everything to you. Kiricocho!’

Emerson asks Jorginho about Napoli ahead of Serie A move

Jorginho’s agent claims Chelsea team-mate Emerson Palmieri has been asking the midfielder about life in Naples ahead of a proposed transfer.

Napoli are eager to sign Emerson, and the Blues are set to do business.

The Serie A side’s new manager Luciano Spalletti made specific request to bring in Emerson this summer, who impressed for Italy at UEFA Euro 2020 when taking over from injured Leonardo Spinazzola.

Joao Santos said: “Emerson asked Jorginho about the city of Naples and the way of living football in Naples.”

Sergio Ramos reveals how Neymar influenced his PSG move amid Arsenal, Manchester City interest

Neymar was Paris Saint-Germain’s secret weapon in their signing of Sergio Ramos.

The Spaniard revealed that any doubts he had about a move to France were put to bed by the Brazilian.

Ramos, 34, was monitored by Premier League heavyweights Manchester United, Arsenal, Man City and Chelsea after he left Real Madrid on a free transfer last month.

Arsenal were reportedly desperate to land the veteran defender to replace David Luiz, offering him £15m per annum.

Manchester City also tabled eye-watering package to lure Ramos to the Etihad.

In an interview with L’Equipe, and reported by AS, he explained: “Neymar convinced me before signing for PSG.

“Before signing for a new club, it is always helpful to talk with several players, or with Leonardo or Al Khelaïfi.

“They all convinced me in their own way.”

Bomb scare: Lionel Messi’s private jet delayed from leaving airport after Copa America heroics

Lionel Messi’s private jet was delayed due to a bomb scare at Argentina’s Rosario aiport

The 34-year-old was due to jet off to Spain for his summer holidays on Tuesday following his Copa America heroics.

But, according to The Sun, just hours before he was meant to leave his homeland, a man claimed to have a bomb in his suitcase.

Security immediately implemented their emergency protocols, evacuating the airport and suspending all flights.

The matter was resolved in under an hour, although the incident caused a serious backlog of flights.

An airport statement read: “At 11:50 am, the airport security police (PSA) activated the preventive emergency plan due to a situation of suspicion.

“The building was evacuated as a precaution.”

Messi – who picked up his first international trophy last weekend – had hoped to spend a few weeks abroad with his family.

But the six-time Ballon d’Or winner has reportedly shelved those plans for ‘security reasons’.

Messi is currently a free agent following the expiration of his jaw-dropping £480,000-a-week contract with Spanish giants Barcelona.

Barca allowed their talisman’s deal to expire in order to renegotiate his staggering wages.

The Spanish club is in dire financial straits due to excessive spending over the years and the coronavirus pandemic.

Erling Haaland’s response when asked about his Chelsea move

Erling Haaland refused to commit his future to the club when asked by German media amid intense speculation about his potential Chelsea move.

The 20-year-old is believed to be a transfer target for European champions Chelsea, with rumours suggesting the Blues will table a huge offer this summer.

Christian Falk, a journalist for German newspaper Bild, claims the publication asked Haaland if he was staying at Dortmund.

Falk’s tweet read: “We asked Erling Haaland: Are you staying at Borussia Dortmund, Mr. Haaland?.

“He smiled and said nothing”.

Keeping tight lipped can only be a good sign for Thomas Tuchel’s side as they look to strengthen the one area of the pitch that could potentially turn them into title challengers in the upcoming 2021/22 Premier League season.

Signing Haaland this summer is a dream for almost every Chelsea supporter and owner Abramovich.

Diego Simeone rejects Antoine Griezmann swap deal for Atletico Madrid star

Atletico Madrid have instantly rejected Barcelona’s offer to swap Nou Camp flop Antoine Griezmann for Joao Felix.

Barca hope to offload big-earners like Leicester target Philippe Coutinho, Ousmane Dembele and Atletico old boy Griezmann to help fund extending Lionel Messi’s contract

Marca claims Diego Simeone is not interested in re-signing Griezmann, especially at the expense of Atleti’s record signing Felix.

Griezmann has been tipped to leave Barca this summer, with Man United, Man City and Chelsea linked.

Nou Camp president Joan Laporte claimed on Tuesday Barcelona are increasingly confident of keeping free agent Messi.

But Ronald Koeman’s men are also battling to balance their finances following the coronavirus pandemic.

And Barca have placed Griezmann high up the list of players who are underperforming compared to their wages.

But the 95-cap star’s high salary could make it tough to move the 30-year-old on.

Arteta confirms Bukayo Saka “has been down” after Euro 2020 penalty miss, racist attack

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has revealed that Bukayo Saka has been down after Euro 2020 penalty heartache and racist abuse, stating that the support and love the club’s youngster has received since the final is “the biggest trophy he could have.”

Saka, 19, saw his decisive spot-kick saved in England’s penalty shootout final defeat to Italy on Sunday.

Saka, along with Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho who were also unable to convert from the spot, were then subjected to abhorrent racist abuse on social media.

Arsenal figures from top to bottom of the club have been in contact with Saka since Sunday’s final to show him their support and that has also been replicated, for all three players, across the world of sport and beyond.

Before Arsenal’s first pre-season friendly against Hibernian the Scottish Premiership side presented the Gunners with one of their shirts with Saka’s name and No. 7 on it in a display of solidarity.

Arteta said: “I have [spoken to him], we all have, he’s been down but the support the love and admiration from everyone in world football I think is the biggest trophy that he can have.

“He had an incredible season he was the best player in our club for the whole season, he played for England, he earned the place to play right there at 19 year-old.

“What else do you want? Yes, the cup but you cannot have everything in this football.”
