(Watch Video) Furious Arsenal fans block Mikel Arteta’s car, tell him to “please leave the club”

Mikel Arteta was subjected to Arsenal fans’ fury after their club was humbled by London rivals Chelsea at the Emirates on Saturday as the club’s supporters blocked their manager’s car, telling him to “do yourself a favour” and leave the club.

The Gunners have made the worst start to a season in their 118-year history, losing their opening two Premier League games to Brentford and Chelsea respectively.

Goals from the returning Romelu Lukaku and Reece James sealed the three points for the Blues, sending them to the top of the Premier League table.

The Arsenal players were booed off at both the half-time and full-time whistle as a result, and the Gunners find themselves in the bottom three.

Boss Arteta bizarrely remained upbeat when asked about the fan’s reaction to the result.

He said: “I must thank the fans, even when things were looking difficult they tried to give the players a boost.

“I see a lot of positives with the crowd and the team today.

“At the end I didn’t see any bad reaction with any of the players. But that is my opinion.

“Feeling sorry for yourself does not help.

“You have to face the challenge, face the criticism – because it will come.”

But it appears Arteta misjudged the fan’s mood as footage has emerged of furious Arsenal fans surrounding his car and calling for him to leave after the game.

One fan can be heard saying: “Arteta, was that good enough? Please leave the club.”

Another furiously repeated: “Mikel, do yourself a favour.”

The Arsenal boss, clearly frustrated with being held up and having calls for him to leave his post, beeped to try and get some of the angry fans to move away.

Eventually a fellow Arsenal fan stepped in and ushered the angry crowd away from Arteta’s window allowing the Gunners boss to move on.

Discussions are understood to be at an advanced stage with a willingness from all parties to complete a deal.

The Gunners are keen to remove his £190,000-per-week salary from the wage bill and would allow the South American to leave the Emirates.

The former Brazil star left the home country club in 2007 but has struggled afteer leaving Chelsea for the Emirates 12 months ago.

And journalist Fabrizio Romano says William is “keen” to move on, but would prefer to stay in Europe.

Lukaku reacts to calls to join Arsenal after his debut goal for Chelsea, rates Blues performance at Emirates

Romelu Lukaku has declared that he would ‘never’ sign for Arsenal following Chelsea’s 2-0 victory at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

The Belgium international completed his return to Chelsea last week, joining in a £97.5 million deal from Inter.

Lukaku delivered an impressive display in his first appearance for Thomas Tuchel’s side as the striker scored Chelsea’s opening goal in the first half before Reece James doubled the visitors’ lead against Arsenal.

Following the win over Mikel Arteta’s side, Lukaku was asked by beIN Sports about Arsenal fans who were calling for him to join the Gunners this summer, reports the Metro.

But Lukaku smiled before he shook his head and replied: “Never. No chance.”

When asked to describe his performance against Arsenal in a separate interview with Sky Sports, Lukaku replied: “Dominant, I would say.

“I try to improve every time, I have a long way to go but today was good to win. We have to win and keep going, the Premier League is a very competitive league.

“I try, I try. At the end of the day, you want work hard for the team, score and create chances. I have worked on that and this team is very talented. They are the European champions and they want to keep building and I want to keep winning. We have to keep fighting and keep delivering performances like this.

“You saw a lot, not only from me but he team adapted really well and they made life very comfortable for me and I was not stressed coming into the game. I only had one thing on my mind, winning the game and I am delighted for the club and fans.

“It is good to start like this, I worked hard throughout the week, we knew wit was a big game and we did well. As an individual, I want to help the team and I want to continue doing that.”

Mikel Arteta admits Chelsea are difficult team to face “when they play at their best”, reveals his plan after home defeat

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has conceded that Chelsea were the better side after his team were handed their first home defeat in the season.

New signing Romelu Lukaku gave Thomas Tuchel’s side the lead and Reece James doubled Chelsea’s advantage before half-time.

Arteta told Sky Sports: “They were the better team. When they play at their best, which I think they did today, they are champions of Europe, have world class players and to match at that level is difficult.

“You can always do things better. In the first half it took us a long time to regain the ball in wide areas. We concede two goals but the way the team responded and the crowd never gave up, it gave us hope in the second half.

“I see a lot of positives with the crowd today. The way they supported the team from the beginning. I saw a good reaction. It is one of the difficult moments. The circumstances are difficult and unprecedented. Feeling sorry for yourself doesn’t help. You have to win football matches, keep it together and show spirit.

“Starting tomorrow in training with the players which did not play. We need to win the game midweek and that will help against Manchester City next weekend.”

Thomas Tuchel refuses to be carried away by Romelu Lukaku’s performance in Chelsea win over Arsenal

Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel said Romelu Lukaku’s debut was a “very good start” after the club-record signing got off the mark for the club on his first start.

Lukaku opened his Chelsea account just 15 minutes into his second debut after he scored the first goal against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

The Belgian, who was drafted straight into the starting line-up by Thomas Tuchel, got on the end of Reece James’ cross before tapping the ball home from close-range.

Speaking at his press conference after the game, Tuchel was delighted with his newest recruit but also refused to get too carried away.

“It was a very good start, it is the best thing when your striker scores straight away to make it 1-0 to us,” the head coach said.

“He linked well with Havertz and Mount and gave something to our game that we can play very directly up front. He was dangerous throughout the whole game in counter-attacks and how we brought him into the game.

“Now it is about details, there is stuff to improve.

“It was a very good debut and he linked up very well with us, now is the moment to continue and improve.

“I think his profile gave us something we didn’t have so much before. He has depth in his game and we can overcome pressing long balls, he can also play into him with his back to goal and we still don’t lose our counter-attack strengths as he runs in open space.

“He was involved in training and with the guys, he is very open, very smart and friendly person so it was easy to connect with everybody. We need to work on the details and keep on going.

“This was game one for him.”

Manchester United legend blasts Arsenal after Chelsea win at Emirates

Roy Keane blasted Arsenal’s performance after their 2-0 loss to Chelsea at the Emirates.

According to the Manchester United legend, Arsenal have been so problematic that they can only hope for a top-seven finish this season.

He told told Sky Sports: “They’d take [top seven] now, definitely.

“You need established players in your dressing room. Arsenal are going down the road of buying young potential, that’s what the club has decided to do, they’re thinking ‘hopefully we can sell these players on’.

“You have to spend the big money for these lads. Man United buy [Raphael] Varane at centre-half, Liverpool buy [Virgil] Van Dijk.

“You have to buy the established players. Which top players really want to come to Arsenal? If [Romelu] Lukaku had a choice to pick Arsenal or Chelsea he would choose Chelsea any day of the week.

“There’s players at Arsenal on huge wages, you can’t shift them, settled in London, cushy lives.

“You have players here that the manager doesn’t want anything to do with them, they give out silly contracts”

“It was very very comfortable [for Chelsea].

“They scored two, could have been five, six, seven maybe and I think if they really went for it in the second half.

“We saw the quality of Chelsea players, their confidence. They had a swagger, Chelsea, and you could see the shortcomings of Arsenal and on a match day there’s no hiding place. And it’s going to be a long old season for Arsenal.

“You can’t keep looking back, you have to look at some of the senior players that are hanging around. There’s doubts over some of them lads. It’s hard to get that foundation.

“The younger players need a helping hand from these senior players, they need to stand up and be counted and prove what playing for a club like Arsenal should mean to them.

“[It’s] probably good they’re not in Europe because they’ve lost their last two league games. [Mikel] Arteta is learning on the job, this is his first job as manager”

Former Arsenal stars slam Gunners after home loss to Chelsea, say club “have lost our DNA”

Arsenal icons Bacary Sagna and Emmanuel Petit launched a scathing attack on their former side after the home drubbing against Chelsea.

The pair worked as pundits for the match on French telly, and were left disgusted by the Gunners’ 2-0 defeat.

Sagna, 38, claimed that Arsenal have ‘lost their DNA’, while Petit, 50, told his old team to give him a call to help with player recruitment.

Appearing on RMC Sport, former right-back Sagna said: “When I watch Arsenal now, honestly, I know they are going to lose the majority of the time, that something is going to happen, that we are going to concede a stupid goal.

“When I was playing, anyone would be excited to join Arsenal.

“Now, we have lost our DNA.

“How can you spend 150million euros and only bring in young players.?

“It might be good for the future but someone has got to think about the present.”

Petit added: “I don’t feel anything watching Arsenal, I’ve become completely desensitised.”

“I feel nothing. What is the plan? We have spent close to the most in the Premier League this summer. I don’t understand it.”

He then continued: “Owners nowadays want to make money instead of winning titles.

“I think that in player recruitment I could bring a different perspective. If Arsenal call me, why not?”

Former Chelsea academy star Tino Livramento wins man-of-the match award in Southampton clash against Man United

Chelsea fans were left hailing former academy star Tino Livramento as he starred for Southampton against Manchester United on Sunday.

The 18-year-old departed the club this summer as he joined Southampton, with a route to the Chelsea first-team seemingly blocked by the likes of Cesar Azpilicueta and Reece James.

Despite having never made a senior appearance for the west Londoners, Livramento has enjoyed a rapid start to life with Southampton.

He was introduced off the bench last weekend in the defeat at the hands of Everton before then being handed his first start for his new employers against Manchester United on Sunday.

Livramento was arguably the stand-out performer for Southampton throughout the game, with his rampaging runs down the right flank particularly catching the eye.

He was also handed the man-of-the-match award by broadcasters Sky Sports as Ralph Hasenhuttl’s troops secured a useful 1-1 draw against Manchester United, with Fred having put through his own net before Mason Greenwood levelled matters down on the South Coast.

Mikel Arteta reacts to Arsenal home loss to Chelsea

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta admitted that the circumstances are “really difficult and probably unprecedented” after the loss to Chelsea and a poor start to the Premier League but insists nothing’s over yet.

Chelsea added to Arsenal’s misery in the Premier League with a 2-0 victory at the Emirates.

The Blues opened the scoring just after 15 minutes when record signing Romelu Lukaku scored his first ever goal for the team on his debut.

Reece James doubled the west Londoners’ lead just 20 minutes later and sealed a major win for Thomas Tuchel’s side.

After the match, Arteta said: “One of the difficult moments that you have to go through. The circumstances are really difficult and probably unprecedented. Feeling sorry for ourselves doesn’t help though.

“You can always do things better in a football match. In the first half we had some difficulties. It took us a long time to regain the ball in the areas we needed. When we did we looked a real threat.

“I certainly see a team that in the second half they kept trying they never gave up and their attitude was exceptional. Something that is clear is that they never gave up. Even the crowd tried to push them and we tried to fight until the end”

Manchester United boss Solskjaer aims dig at Chelsea, others

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer aimed a thinly veiled dig at Premier League rivals Manchester City and Chelsea when responding to criticism from Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.

Solskjaer is adamant that United spend within their means and jokingly admitted that he had bought an electric car to help avoid funding the petrol and gas-fuelled spending of Man City and Chelsea, with Pep Guardiola’s City breaking the British transfer record with a £100million deal to sign Jack Grealish from Aston Villa.

“We are a well-run club,” said Solskjaer ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash with Southampton.

Klopp had questioned how United were able to spend more than £100million in the summer transfer window, saying “I don’t know how they do it”.

‘How we get the money, as a manager you want more and more. I have heard ‘no’ a few times.

‘How other clubs run their clubs, there are different models at different clubs. I have started buying electric cars! That is all I want to say about that situation.’
