Cristiano Ronaldo releases statements on his departure from Juventus to Manchester United

Cristiano Ronaldo has penned an emotional goodbye message to Juventus fans ahead of his return to Manchester United.

On Friday, it was announced that United have agreed a deal to re-sign the five-time Ballon d’Or winner from the Italian champions.

Ronaldo’s impending return to Old Trafford brings about the end of a three-year stay in Turin, which he reflected on in a heartfelt Instagram post.

Alongside a highlight video of his time at the Allianz Stadium, he wrote: “Today I depart from an amazing club, the biggest in Italy and surely one of the biggest in all of Europe.

“I gave my heart and soul for Juventus and I’ll always love the city of Turin until my final days.

“The ‘tiffosi bianconeri’ always respected me and I tried to thank that respect by fighting for them in every game, every season, every competition.

“In the end, we can all look back and realize that we achieved great things, not all that we wanted, but still, we wrote a pretty beautiful story together.

“I will always be one of you. You are now part of my history, as I feel that I’m part of yours. Italy, Juve, Turin, tiffosi bianconeri, you’ll always be in my heart.”

Ronaldo, 36, revealed to Juventus earlier this week that he wished to move on to pastures new.

That prompted defending Premier League champions Manchester City to weigh up a move for his services.

City, however, pulled out of the race for the forward’s signature after it emerged United had made overtures to re-sign their former talisman.

Thomas Tuchel, West Ham boss confirm move for Kurt Zouma, but star’s medical condition makes move “hanging in the balance”

David Moyes has confirmed that West Ham are closing in on a move for Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma.

Moyes made it clear that Zouma was a priority signing with the manager keen to add a fourth centre-back to his squad following the summer departure of Fabian Balbuena.

“We lost Fabian Balbuena last season and three centre-backs is not enough,” said Moyes.

“We have had an offer accepted from Chelsea for Kurt but I could not tell you if the medical has been completed yet.”

However, Zouma’s transfer from Chelsea to West Ham is reportedly hanging in the balance.

The £25.7million deal for the centre-back was understood to be close to completion with the respective managers of Chelsea and West Ham both confirming a bid had been accepted and a medical was taking place.

Speaking ahead of the weekend’s action Blues boss Thomas Tuchel said Zouma was in France and in talks with West Ham over his transfer:

“There are negotiations between West Ham and Chelsea about Kurt,” Tuchel said.

“Kurt right now is not with us, not because of these negotiations but because he has some personal issues to solve and we allowed him to travel to France. This isn’t the reason he’s not with us in the squad.

“There are negotiations right now but, to be honest, I don’t know where it leads to right now. We have to wait. Both things can happen that he stays or not.”

David Moyes went further than his Chelsea counterpart, admitting that a medical was taking place but added he was unaware of the outcome.

According to football.london, Zouma has managed an issue with his knee for a number of seasons through an individual training programme and it is this long-term complaint that is holding the deal up.
