Ex-Chelsea striker’s son named in Real Madrid’s 2021/22 Champions League squad

Real Madrid have named the son of former Chelsea and Barcelona striker Eidur Gudjohnsen in their 2021/22 Champions League squad.

Andri Gudjohnsen joined the Los Blancos youth set up in 2018 after spending time at both the La Masia and Espanyol academies as a teenager.

Gudjohnsen Jnr was born in 2002 during his father’s time with Premier League giants Chelsea before he joined Barcelona in 2006.

The 19-year-old striker was promoted to the Real Madrid B team this summer, after returning from a serious knee injury in 2020, and making his senior debut for Iceland in August.

According to reports from Marca, the towering frontman has been included into Real Madrid’s extended Champions League panel this season.

Carlo Ancelotti’s primary panel is made up of 25 first team players, including deadline day signing Eduardo Camavinga, with a further 15 homegrown players forming a back up list.

Alongside Gudjohnsen Jnr, highly rated pair Miguel Gutierrez and Marvin Park have also been included in the 40-man group.

Romelu Lukaku reveals secret behind his Chelsea move after Inter Milan rejected three bids

Romelu Lukaku admits he personally talked to Simone Inzaghi, pushing to join Chelsea from Inter as the Nerazzurri had rejected three offers.

Lukaku completed a €115m move to Stamford Bridge this summer, returning to West London after eight years.

The Premier League giants had been in talks with the Serie A champions for a long time, but Inter rejected as many as three offers, forcing the Belgian star to step in and ask his club to let him return to London.

“With Chelsea’s third offer, I knew it was serious and I wasn’t there anymore,” Lukaku told Hln.be.

“Chelsea offered €110m plus Zappacosta, but Inter said no, so I went to [Simone] Inzaghi’s office asking to find an agreement.

“I told Inzaghi: ‘Inter pulled me out of s… but I wanna leave only because of Chelsea.”

Lukaku scored 64 goals in 95 games during his two-year spell at Inter. He had joined the Nerazzurri in a €75m deal from Manchester United. He won one Serie A title during his time in Milan.

He scored his first goal with Chelsea in their 2-0 win against Arsenal on August 22. The 28-year-old has signed a contract until June 2026 with the Blues.
