Revealed: How Tottenham chief Daniel Levy threatened Liverpool’s staff to stop Luis Diaz Reds move

Fuming Tottenham chief Daniel Levy reportedly threatened to REPORT Liverpool’s recruitment staff to their owners to try and stop the Reds signing Luis Diaz.

Levy was said to be incensed when he heard the Reds had courted Tottenham’s top transfer target.

And he frantically tried to stop it by threatening to expose Liverpool’s recruitment staff’s tactics to the club’s owners John W Henry and Mike Gordon, according to The Telegraph.

But Levy’s desperate attempt to get the Reds to back down had no effect as Henry and Gordon had no issues with their staff’s conduct.

Meanwhile, another report claim that last week Jurgen Klopp FaceTimed the 25-year-old to persuade him to join the Reds.

The call had obviously gone well as Luiz later informed Porto that his preferred choice of club would be Liverpool.

According to MailOnline, the pair got on ‘very well’.

Former Chelsea striker Diego Costa on Barcelona radar

Diego Costa could be set for a shock return to Spain to solve Barcelona’s crisis up top.

The 33-year-old is currently a free agent after having his contract terminated by mutual consent at Atletico Mineiro following the Brazilian club’s title-winning season.

Costa scored four goals in 15 league games for Antonio Mohamed’s side as he helped Mineiro win their first championship in 50 years.

But he could now be heading back to LaLiga – just over a year after having his Atletico Madrid contract ripped up six months early.

Barca boss Xavi is desperate for a centre-forward to be brought in as he only has Luuk de Jong and Martin Braithwaite to rely on up top in Memphis Depay’s absence.

According to Sport, Costa has been identified by the Blaugrana as a potential option.

The Spanish news outlet states that the player has been offered to the Catalan club.

Though they add that Valencia could also snap up the two-time Premier League winner if

Mikel Arteta’s former prime target Dusan Vlahovic reveals why he chose Juventus ahead of Arsenal

Dusan Vlahovic has broken his silence after rejecting Arsenal to seal a £62million deal to Juventus from Fiorentina.

The Serbian striker was one of the Gunners’ top targets this month, as a replacement for the exiled Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Mikel Arteta already wants long-term replacements for 30-somethings Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.

Juventus recruited the Fiorentina goal machine for £62million on his 22nd birthday.

Vlahovic was keen to stay in Italy and in the past week it became clear Arsenal had little chance of persuading him otherwise.

He said: “Juventus represents pride, tradition, family. Juventus are always there until the last minute, they never give up.

“The team always comes first, I am at the disposal of the coach and my teammates, who I will try to help in the best way possible.

“We always want more, and we want to improve in the future. Today is my birthday, which is really wonderful, a special day for me.

“This is one of the happiest birthdays I’ve experienced so far. I want to make Juventus proud. We will always fight for all goals, as they say, fino alle fine!”

The 22-year-old would have been offered a huge salary and add-on incentives to seal a move to Mikel Arteta’s side.

But he has snubbed a switch to North London to join the Italian giants and become their next superstar forward.

Vlahovic’s move to Juventus also includes around £6m in add-ons, including goal bonuses and appearance fees.

Revealed: How Chelsea thwarted Arsenal’s move for Juventus star

Arsenal’s hopes of signing Juventus star Arthur Melo have suffered a blow, thanks to Chelsea.

Tuttosport newspaper and Calciomercato.com report the Blues have already informed Juventus that they won’t let the 25-year-old leave Stamford Bridge on a temporary deal in January.

Juventus are struggling financially, so they can only sign additional players on a free transfer or on loan with an option to buy after signing Dusan Vlahovic.

Surely, the 2021 Champions League winners are not open to loaning Loftus Cheek for just six months, so Juventus must continue their search for a potential replacement for Arthur.

Juventus will only loan the midfielder out to the Gunners once a replacement has been signed and, according to the Mail, Ruben Loftus-Cheek has been identified as an ideal candidate.

Everton are also said to have failed in a loan move for Loftus-Cheek.

Arsenal dealt fresh transfer blow as another target signs new deal

Arsenal have been dealt another transfer blow after PSV Eindhoven star Cody Gakpo signed a new deal until 2026.

According to Footmercato, Liverpool and the Gunners were leading the race for Gakpo’s signature during the January transfer window.

However, PSV have released an official statement confirming the versatile forward has put pen to paper on a one-year extension with the club.

That means a January bid appears to have been ruled out.

Chelsea handed transfer blow in race to sign France international as Premier League rival “open talks”

Chelsea face coming away empty-handed in their pursuit of Monaco wonderkid Aurelien Tchouameni after Manchester United and Real Madrid joined the race for his signature.

The Red Devils are set to go into battle with Real Madrid and Premier League rivals Chelsea, Liverpool and Man City for the 22-year-old.

And LaLiga leaders Real Madrid are also in the mix after dispatching their chief scout to watch the midfielder in action.

Reports in France suggest Monaco haven’t even bothered to name an asking price for the in-demand wonderkid.

They’re confident any bidding war among Europe’s top club’s would push the fee well north of £33m.

United are tracking the France international’s progress as they assess their options in midfield for next season.

Tchouameni appears to have caught the eye of Bernabeu bigwigs, who have dispatched chief scout Juni Calafat to watch him further.

Now reports in Spain say Real have made the 22-year-old their top target for next summer.

Marca claims the LaLiga leaders have been tracking the defensive midfielder even before he became a regular in Didier Deschamps’ France squad.

One of boss Carlo Ancelotti’s key objectives for next season is to integrate a youngster capable of taking over from Casemiro.

Barcelona ‘confident’ of signing former Chelsea star

Barcelona are reportedly increasingly ‘confident’ of sealing a move for Alvaro Morata before the end of the window.

The club’s financial woes mean a permanent transfer remains unlikely, but there is still hope a loan deal can be agreed.

Morata is currently on loan already at Juve, from Atletico Madrid, so would need to be recalled before being sent out again
