Barcelona manager Xavi has warned Manchester United off transfer target Frenkie de Jong.
Reports have suggested incoming manager Erik ten Hag is interested in bringing his fellow countryman to the club.
But the Spanish tactician was full of praise for the midfielder, insisting he’s the future of the club.
“He has to be a player that makes the difference and he does. There aren’t many players with his quality in the world,” Xavi said in a press conference on Saturday.
“He’s the present and the future here. He is a very important player for me. He’s capable, strong, he gets into the box… He has had some excellent games, but he has to be consistent.”
