Tottenham open talks to sign Chelsea target

Tottenham have opened talks to sign RB Leipzig defender and Chelsea target Josko Gvardiol, according to reports.

The 20-year-old enjoyed a good debut season with the German club following his £17million transfer from Dinamo Zagreb last summer.

According to Nabil Djellit, his strong season has caught the attention of Tottenham, who have opened talks over a potential transfer.

The club are desperate to sign a new centre-back, having been linked with Inter Milan duo Alessandro Bastoni and Milan Skriniar.

Bayern Munich tell Barcelona, Chelsea cost of signing Robert Lewandowski

Bayern Munich reportedly want at least €60m (£52m) if they are to sell Robert Lewandowski to potential suitors like Barcelona and Chelsea.

Earlier this week, Barcelona made a €40m (£34.4m) offer but Bayern insisted the striker was not for sale, even though he has only a year left on his contract.

But Barca will have to cough up the exorbitant fee in order to land the Poland international, according to Sky Sports.

Chelsea are lurking in the shadows incase his move to Spain falls through.

Last month, the 33-year-old had told Bayern he would not extend his contract beyond the end of the 2022/23 season.

Barcelona chiefs divided over Ousmane Dembele as Chelsea circle

Senior figures at Barcelona are reportedly divided over whether to withdraw the contract offered to Ousmane Dembele or not

Barcelona’s last contract offer to Dembele came way back in January.

The winger still has not accepted it, and there are just 5 days until his current deal runs out, making him a free agent.

There is still plenty of hope he signs it – despite serious interest from Chelsea he’s still not agreed a deal anywhere else, and the France international has always maintained publicly that he wants to stay at the Camp Nou.

But there is now serious consideration at Barcelona of taking that offer off the table, according to a piece from Gabriel Sans in Mundo Deportivo, via Football Espana.

This is “more to do with image than finances,” apparently, with the Catalan club feeling humiliated by the way their player is fishing for better offers, while keeping their in his back pocket.

There is currently a major split within Barca’s senior management team over what to do, but it will all be moot in a week’s time, when Dembele is a free agent.

Revealed: Why Cesar Azpilicueta’s Barcelona move is complicated

Barcelona will not be able to sign Chelsea skipper Cesar Azpilicueta for free this summer.

La Blaugrana have been heavily linked with a potential move for the veteran defender ahead of the 2022/23 La Liga campaign.

The Blues previous economic sanctions had appeared to confirm Azpilicueta’s departure when his contract expired next month.

German international Antonio Rudiger has already joined Real Madrid on a free transfer from the club but Azpilicueta’s situation is more complicated.

With the UK Government sanctions now removed, Chelsea can negotiate a renewal, with an extension clause activated, after the 32-year-old made over 30 appearances in all competitions last season.

According to reports from Marca, Chelsea are happy for Azpilicueta to make the decision on his future, but they will demand a transfer fee.

The clause means he is tied to Stamford Bridge with Chelsea potentially looking for a deal in the region of £13m for the Basque full back.

Real Madrid set to hand Brazilian trio new deals

Real Madrid winger Rodrygo will join teammates Eder Militao and Vinicius Jr. in signing improved contracts with the Spanish champions, according to AS.

The Brazilian trio was pivotal in helping Madrid win the LaLiga title and the Champions League this past season. They have all been offered contracts through June 2027, with an option to extend it for a further year, while their release clauses will also be raised to €1 billion.

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly hopeful that Rodrygo, Militao and Vinicius will sign their new deals before the start of pre-season on July 8.

Rodrygo scored nine goals and set up seven more in 49 appearances across all competitions for Madrid this past season. Militao and Rodrygo’s current deals expires in 2025, while Vinicius’ deal runs out a year earlier.

Cristiano Ronaldo, other Manchester United stars hit gym

A host of Manchester United stars have been pictured hitting the gym over the last few days.

Stars including Cristiano Ronaldo, Marcus Rashford, Scott McTominay, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and Axel Tuanzebe have posted pictures and videos of themselves hard at work in the gym flexing their muscles.

It is very possible this could be in a bid to impress new United boss Erik ten Hag as he prepares to decide the future of a number of players ahead of a summer overhaul of the squad.

United suffered statistically their worst ever season in the Premier League last season, with stars including Rashford and Wan-Bissaka struggling for large parts of the season.

Bayern Munich reject Barcelona’s second offer for Robert Lewandowski

Bayern Munich have turned down a second offer form Barcelona for striker Robert Lewandowski, according to COPE.

Lewandowski, 33, scored 50 goals in 46 appearances across all competitions this past season but wants to leave Bayern this summer.

However, he is under contract until June 2023 and Bayern have no intention of letting the Poland international leave, so are unwilling to enter into negotiations with Barcelona or any other club.

Still, Barca stepped up their initial bid and have reportedly offered €35m plus €5m in variables for Lewandowski, which Bayern have rejected.

Aston Villa-linked Luis Suarez makes request over River Plate move

Luis Suarez has requested a further week to consider the offer he has from Argentine giants River Plate.

Suarez, 35, who is a free agent after his contract with Atletico Madrid ended this month, is keen to remain in Europe but has not ruled out a move to River.

According to reports, money would not be an impediment for the Uruguay striker to join River.

He scored 11 league goals for Atletico this past campaign and helped Uruguay qualify for the World Cup, while he is currently on holiday in Spain with friend Lionel Messi.

Bayern Munich react to Cristiano Ronaldo speculation

Bayern Munich are NOT interested in signing Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United, according to reports.

Recent reports have suggested Ronaldo is unhappy with the lack of movement in the transfer market from Man United, leading to speculation he could quit the club this summer.

Such speculation included links with Bundesliga Champions Bayern Munich, which would represent a new challenge for the Portuguese superstar.

However, BILD’s Christian Falk has reported such interest is untrue, with Bayern holding no tangible interest in the 37-year-old.

Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic was quick to brush off rumours that his club would be interested in Ronaldo’s services.

“Cristiano Ronaldo is a top player with an outstanding career,” Salihamidzic said. “However, the rumour that is circulating is a rumour that has no truth to it.”

Nigerian international Taiwo Awoniyi completes Nottingham Forest move

Nottingham Forest have signed Union Berlin striker Taiwo Awoniyi for a reported club record of £17.5m.

The 24-year-old joins Forest from the Bundesliga club on a five-year deal and becomes the newly-promoted Premier League side’s first international signing of the summer.

The Nigeria international joins The Reds from Bundesliga club Union Berlin, signing a five-year-deal at The City Ground.

“I’m very excited to be here at Nottingham Forest,” said Awoniyi following his move to The City Ground.

“It’s always been my dream to play in the Premier League and having spoken to Steve Cooper about our ambitions and looking at Forest, with its great history, it’s a club that I want to be part of.

Head Coach Steve Cooper added: “There’s been a lot of interest in Taiwo from other Premier League clubs, and other clubs across Europe, so we’re delighted that he’s chosen Nottingham Forest.

“Our recruitment and coaching teams have been monitoring his progress closely over the last few months. He’s a player who we really believe in and we look forward to him going on to fulfil his potential and become a top Premier League striker with Nottingham Forest.”
