Atletico Madrid ‘furious’ over Samu Omorodion transfer collapse, threaten Chelsea

Samu Omorodion

Atletico Madrid are furious about the fact that Chelsea have decided not to progress forward with their move for Samu Omorodion, according to talkSPORT.

Omorodion’s transfer to Chelsea collapsed, with The Athletic’s David Ornstein claiming that there has been a major problem finalising his contract. Chelsea were to pay £35million for Omorodion’s services with his medical to be completed in Paris.

In inother vein, Conor Gallagher, who is part of the Omorodion’s deal is currently in the Spanish capital after Chelsea accepted an initial £33m offer.

talkSPORT add that the money raised from Omorodion was not only important in getting a deal for Gallagher over the line, but also in balancing the books after splashing £81.5million on Julian Alvarez from Manchester City.

It’s said that the LaLiga outfit are unhappy with the change in negotiations and they’re threatening to pull the plug on the Gallagher deal.

Arsenal rounded off their preparations for the new season with a 2-0 victory against Lyon to win the Emirates Cup in sunny north London.

Mikel Arteta fielded a strong side and they took an early lead through William Saliba’s header after nine minutes.

The Gunners doubled their lead just before the half hour mark, with Saliba’s centre-back partner Gabriel rising high from yet another corner.

Meanwhile, Riccardo Calafiori, a £42million summer signing from Bologna, made his first appearance as an Arsenal player, coming off the bench in the 64th minute to replace Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Lesley Ugochukwu’s last-minute goal earns Chelsea 1-1 draw against Inter Milan

Chelsea rounded off their dismal pre-season with a 1-1 draw against Inter Milan at Stamford Bridge.

Enzo Maresca’s men prepared for the upcoming campaign with three defeats in six matches as Lesley Ugochukwu’s late strike spared their blushes on Sunday.

The Italian boss fielded a strong side against the Serie A Champions ahead of next weekend’s Premier League opener.

Cole Palmer, who was given an extended break after reaching the Euro 2024 final with England, was given his first pre-season minutes alongside Marc Cucurella and Nicholas Jackson.

The west London club however found themselves trailing after 26 minutes through Marcus Thuram’s strike from the edge of the box.

Chelsea dominated possession and attempts at goal but lacked clear cut chances against the Serie A giants.

At the break, home supporters were introduced to the latest signing Pedro Neto, whose £54million move from Wolves was confirmed moments earlier.

Christopher Nkunku forced a save from Yan Sommer in the second-half while Levi Colwill struck the post.

The Blues earned a draw in the dying moments thanks to a powerful striker by Ugochukwu’s after Inter had failed to clear their lines from a corner.

Sunday’s draw ensured Maresca’s side won just once in pre-season, with 3-0 victory coming against Mexican side Club America.

Chelsea lost against Real Madrid, Manchester City and Celtic during their tour of the US and drew with League One Wrexham.

The Blues will seek to put their poor pre-season results to a side when they host champions Manchester City in their first Premier League match of the season next Sunday.

Pedro Neto’s first words after joining Chelsea

Pedro Neto has spoken for the first time since Chelsea confirmed his £54million move from Wolves.

The 24-year-old, who was introduced to the Chelsea supporters at half-time during their final pre-season friendly against Inter Milan, has joined the Blues on a seven-year contract and will begin training with his new teammates at Cobham in the coming days. Neto scored three goals and added 11 assists in just 24 appearances last season.

And now, after signing a long-term deal in west London, Neto has admitted he is buzzing to get started.

“I feel really grateful to have joined this club,” Neto told the Chelsea club website.

“I have worked really hard in my career to be here and I’m looking forward to getting on the pitch with this shirt.”

Neto is their tenth signing of the summer after Tosin Adarabioyo, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Filip Jorgensen, Omari Kellyman, Aaron Anselmino, Renato Veiga, Caleb Wiley and Marc Guiu, Estevao Willian – who won’t join until 2025 – made the switch to the Blues.

It’s taken Chelsea’s summer spending up to more than £150m and above Aston Villa as the Premier League club with the biggest transfer outlay so far.
