Ajax star warns teammates against Chelsea star’s threat as two teams clash on Wednesday in Champions League

Ajax defender Joel Veltman has warned his teammates to be wary of Tammy Abraham, saying the gangling Chelsea striker is his biggest concern tomorrow.

The Dutch side face Chelsea in the Champions League on Wednesday night in the third group game.

Ajax are occupying the top spot in Group H having won their two matches so far in the competition, while Chelsea are second with three points having lost their home match to Valencia and defeated Lille on the road.

The defender told NUSport: “There will be no underestimation. Chelsea remains Chelsea. They certainly have some good players. I mainly looked at their striker, the 22-year-old Tammy Abraham. He has been loaned out a few times, but is now doing very well.

“I don’t know if we are obliged to continue in this position, that pressure is mainly imposed from outside, but of course we want to. Certainly after last season, you don’t want to be eliminated in the group stage.”
