Antonio Conte plots January swoop for Chelsea star to replace injured Alexis Sanchez

Reports in Italy claim Inter Milan are preparing a January swoop for unhappy Chelsea forward Olivier Giroud.

It was confirmed today that Alexis Sanchez, on loan from Manchester United, has dislocated his ankle joint with tendon damage during international duty with Chile.

He’ll find out tomorrow if this requires surgery, which could keep him out of action for three to four months.

This leaves the Nerazzurri short on striking options and they could again look to the Premier League for reinforcements.

Giroud is increasingly frustrated at the lack of playing time at Chelsea since his January 2018 move from Arsenal, a move requested by Antonio Conte.

The 33-year-old scored one goal in his five appearances this season, most of them as a substitute.

His contract is due to expire at the end of this term, so a January sale is more than likely.

According to FCInterNews.it, Giroud wants a contract until June 2022 and his salary is a massive €8m per year.
