Antonio Conte’s former hatchet man set to join him at Tottenham

Antonio Conte is eager to reunite with Inter Milan midfieder Arturo Vidal at Tottenham at the end of the season, according to La Tercera in Chile.

The South American would prioritize a move to England over Galatasaray and Olympique de Marseille who have also shown interest in signing him.

Vidal joined Inter from Barcelona in a €1.5m deal in 2020. The Chile international signed a contract until 2023, with his salary increasing during his three-year spell at the club.

The latest financial statement published by Inter clarified the details of Vidal’s contract.

The former Juventus, Bayern Munich and Barcelona midfielder earned €3m in 2020-21, €8.5m this season and is supposed to get €9.5m in 2022-23.

However, according to Football Italia, Inter can terminate his contract at the end of the current campaign by paying €4m and saving €5.5m from the player’s final year at the club. His compatriot Alexis Sanchez has the same clause included in his agreement with the Serie A champions.

Should Inter terminate Vidal’s contract in July, the 34-year-old would move to North London, reuniting with his former coach Antonio Conte who pushed to sign him at Inter two years ago.

Vidal had already played under Antonio Conte at Juventus, becoming one of the best midfielders in the world under the guidance of the Italian tactician.
