Chelsea legend set to become Congo national manager

Ex-Chelsea midfielder Claude Makelele has declared his aim to become Congo’s national coach.

The France legend, 49, has recently been back at Stamford Bridge as a youth mentor and has also been an ambassador for DR Congo’s FA.

Former Real Madrid star Makele was born in the African country.

Congo have just sacked national coach Hector Cuper following defeats in Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Gabon and Sudan.
