Chelsea have reportedly started considering alternatives to Moises Caicedo with no progress being made in negotiations with Brighton.

Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth delivered the latest stance from Chelsea’s perspective on Caicedo, with his final claim hinting Chelsea abandoning the move is possible. On Twitter, via Football Daily, he said: “I’m told Chelsea are going to continue to be disciplined on Caicedo.

“They are being patient and are deciding their next move, Chelsea thought their bid of £70m was good, they have other options to turn too if this doesn’t work out”.

The Athletic’s David Ornstein also revealed that: “On Moisés Caicedo, Brighton Chairman Tony Bloom will NEVER sell for what he believes to be under the value that he expects.”

“No real breakthrough or development on Moises Caicedo for Chelsea; to my understanding, Chelsea have had THREE bids turned down by Brighton worth £60, £65, and then £70 million. Chelsea are knocking, but Brighton won’t open the door.”

“Something is going to have to give if this is going to happen, especially when Brighton see the likes of Bellingham and Declan Rice go for in excess of 100 million.”

One of those alternatives available to Chelsea right now is Southampton star Romeo Lavia, but Liverpool look to be his likely destination with Jurgen Klopp’s men preparing another offer after their opening bid worth £37million was rejected.

However, there are some concerns within Anfield that Chelsea could look to complete a transfer hijack despite their focus still firmly being on Caicedo.

According to football.london, Chelsea have held talks with Southampton for young midfielder Romeo Lavia having watched him on numerous occasions last season with the club’s scouts doing extensive research on the teenager.
