Chelsea open contract talks with Jorginho despite his agent touting Blues star for return to Italy

Chelsea are preparing to open contract talks with Jorginho, according to reports.

The Blues midfielder has enjoyed a fine revival since Thomas Tuchel replaced Frank Lampard in January.

And according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, he looks on course to be rewarded with a new deal.

The journalist adds that the Italian star wants to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge.

Jorginho, 29, arrived alongside Maurizio Sarri in 2018 for £57million.

His £110,000-a-week, five-year deal expires in June 2023.

Meanwhile, his agent has confirmed he’d be open to Napoli or Milan, and would currently cost €50m.

“He would also like a return to Italy, but I think it will be in a couple of years and not now,” agent Joao Santos told Radio Kiss Kiss.

The representative was asked which club in Serie A could draw Jorginho in, for example Napoli or Milan?

“If they don’t call… He loves the city of Naples and spent wonderful years there, but he has to think about his career right now. He still has a contract at Chelsea.

“As for Milan, if he were to leave Chelsea, with €50m and a contract similar to the one he currently has at Stamford Bridge, then he could think about it.”
