Cesar Azpilicueta has waved a tearful goodbye to Chelsea after 11 years with the club.

The Blues captain cried for six minutes as he said goodbye to the Chelsea fans in an emotional video.

He is expected to join Atletico Madrid on a free transfer now that his Chelsea exit has been confirmed.

Chelsea have allowed him to leave a year early, with his contract not expiring until next summer.

In a video shared to the club’s social media channels, Azpilicueta was shown a montage from his time in West London.

The footage reduced him to tears before he said an emotional goodbye to the club’s supporters.

“It is difficult to express with words what I feel,” admitted Azpilicueta. “It has been incredible.

“And just, thank you to everyone, because it couldn’t happen without the help of a lot of people. What a journey.

“Those moments that I take with me, you know, will last forever. This is my home and I hope to see everybody here back one day.

“Because when I arrived, nobody knew me about how I was, what kind of player. What is he doing here?

“And then to leave the pitch in the last game, the love they have shown me every single time is something that I’m really proud of. Hopefully we can keep this relationship forever.”

Azpilicueta joined Chelsea from Marseille back in 2012 and has since made 508 appearances for the club.

The 33-year-old defender has been club captain since 2019 and even chipped in with 17 goals.

Meanwhile, Atletico Macdrid President Cerezo has confirmed Azpilicueta’s move to Wande Metropolitano club.

His words: “We don’t have news about Morata’s future situation… but it surprises me. I don’t think he will go to Italy”, he told COPE.

“César Azpilicueta will be presented on Friday”, Cerezo confirms.
