Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti identifies Chelsea’s strength, talks about Tuchel, Lampard ahead of Monday clash

Carlo Ancelotti has taken a cursory look at Chelsea under Thomas Tuchel as Everton take on the west London at Stamford Bridge on Monday.

Everton arrive in the capital off the back of a victory over West Bromwich Albion on Thursday night, their third straight victory in the Premier League and they are just one point behind Chelsea with a game in hand.

The Blues have improved dramatically since Tuchel replaced Frank Lampard in January with a run of ten matches unbeaten in all competitions, eight of them in the top flight, and have kept eight clean sheets in those ten outings.

The former Blues manager was asked ahead of Monday’s game what is different under Tuchel for Chelsea and he said: “It’s really difficult to say.

“Offensively they play a little bit different, not too much because the players are still the same. They are really consistent, because they haven’t lost games under Tuchel.

“They are solid, but this doesn’t mean Lampard didn’t do a good job. In my opinion, Lampard did a fantastic job when he was there.

“He [Tuchel] has the quality.

“He’s a young manager but he’s already had experience in Germany, experience in Paris and so he’s a manager with a lot of knowledge and of course a lot of ambition. Because he’s young.

“He’s not old, like me! I have strong ambition, even if I am a little bit old!”
