Frank Lampard complains about Callum Hudson-Odoi

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard was not impressed by Callum Hudson-Odoi in the first-half of the Grimsby match at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues thrashed Grimsby 7-1 in the Carabao Cup, with Hudson-Odoi getting on the scoresheet

The 18-year-old was a little rusty in the match and missed several other chances. He, however, eventually scored after getting a half-time dressing down.

Following the win over the League Two club, the manager was asked whether it was good to see Hudson-Odoi back in action.

He said: “Yeah of course. Firstly he has signed up, so that is good so that puts to bed everything else.

“In terms of his performance, I thought first half not so sure.

“I thought him and Christian as wingers, the message was to hurt the line and run behind and end upp in areas inside the box where you’re taking people on.

“That wasn’t happening and that message didn’t get across because at half-time it had to be reinforced pretty strongly.

“In the second half, they managed to get in better positions. Callum’s talent means he has to absolutely work hard to run at people, to get in behind people, to be inside, to be outside, to work off the ball. That’s where he needs to learn because if he wants to play in the team week in, week out, that’s what he needs to do.”
