Manchester City secured a 1-0 lead over Tottenham at the break courtesy of Phil Foden’s first Premier League goal.

Though City dominated the game in the first 45 minutes, they have looked vulnerable as Spurs have spurned four decent scoring opportunity after getting in behind the City defence.

The home side opened the scoring in the fifth minute when Bernardo Silva lifted a cross to the back post.

Sergio Aguero unselfishly nodded the ball across the face of goal for Foden to convert. Spurs hit back with a flurry of chances through Son Heung-min, but City held firm thanks to Ederson between the sticks, who denied the forward along with an effort from Christian Eriksen.

Although Pep Guardiola will be pleased to have the lead it came at a cost as Kevin De Bruyne limped off towards the end of the half.

He appeared to have tweaked a muscle that could have implications in the closing weeks of the term.

Unsurprisingly it has not been the most energetic performance from Spurs.

Their efforts on Wednesday along with the travel up and down between London and Manchester will have taken a lot out of them.

However, they’ve remainned a threat on the counter and Son could have restored parity with one of his attempts.
